1.
Interesting thread. While looking at old telebasses on you tube, I found surf bands like the old retro vibe. Bass is definitely picked
I'll look out for you in Twickenham Junction with your Tele Bass under your arm surfboard style!!!
 2.
While we're not strictly a surf band the Terrortones are quite influenced by surf music. Why do you ask?
I've always rather liked surf music and regularly listen to Surf Guitar 101 and Shrunken Head Lounge podcasts and have loads of cds. I also have some Teisco, Kent, Guyatone etc guitars and basses. It just always seems to be a happy and upbeat sort of music and wondered what it was like from a performers point of view.
 3. Just curious if anyone is in or has ever been in a Surf Band.
 4.
definitely this/these easy peasy lemon squeezy solo >>> 1:23
Louis Satterfield?
 5.
Thanks, got to say I really like the tone of the bass and it will look strange with a tiny bridge.
You won't see the bridge as you'll have the bridge cover on or am i missing something here?
 6. Take your pick of the four bass players on this....................... http://youtu.be/JFnzH5yGbws

 9.
I would have done , had it not been for the fact that I suffer from low self - esteem and am not in fact " worth it " , or at least I dont think so .
Sadly i cannot talk of bouffants since shampooing my hair with 'Wash and Gone' some years ago.
 10.
I bought a Stingray once but found it gave me too much frizz and sold it to a chav from Wolverhampton . And funnily enough , Bernard Boufant was once my pseudonym when I played on a record I didn't want to be associated with .
Get ready for for the BC police to descend after such Stingray talk. In your Bernard Bouffant phase when you restrung your Stingray did you stand back and looking admiringly at it say 'because you're worth it'?
 11.
You've spoilt that for me now . I was just preparing my post with photographic illustrations using snaps of my my past hairstyles , including a couple very close to those sported by Glenn Hughes . People might laugh at mullets now , but they definitely sounded good back in the '80's .
I was really looking forward to our history of Coiffure by one our learned BCers (or stating the obvious as is often the case) and just thought it might start with something like..............'The Mullett, unlike the Bouffant..........' I'm sure it would have ended with Fenders are overrated and you should have bought a Stingray though.
 12. I had a Badass II on my 1974 Jazz Bass and recently put the original Fender bridge back on as i wanted to put the bridge cover back on. The holes on the Badass II and the original 1974 bridge line up exactly.
 13. I can see a history lesson of hairdressing through the ages coming.
 14.
A poor little mummys boy.
.....with a collection of Strats presumably. I give up by the way so what Jimmy did you mean?
 15.
"Jimmy Jimmy" from the Undertones song?
It could be, but who is he?
 16. ...........still no nearer finding out who this 'Jimmy' bloke is then.
 17.
Agree, most of the fakes were better in this era, the fact that a neck from a 70's precision bass can still be fretted and played should arouse suspicion immediately, they were never designed to last, they were modular, just buy a new neck, but the value is in originality and far too many confuse a botched up parts job with a collectors instrument these days.
Never designed to last? 40 years on and still going strong suggests there were.
 18.
The amount of fakes is devaluing the brand, even experts struggle with the precisions without doing a full strip down. Could be a re-hash, they were £150a pop second hand basses in the 80's
Devaluing the brand? In what way?
 19.
Raygun Relics at it again! http://cgi.ebay.co.u...:B:FSEL:GB:1123
It must be the new 'Herbaceous Border Stratocaster'.
 20.
Page? Hendrix? Jazz? The police got him I heard...
I was thinking it might be either Hill or Cricket.
 21.
Its not like "Jimmys strat", he had dozens and dozens of basses over his time.
Who is Jimmy?
 22.
You do realise this is bass guitar forum , don't you ?
Yes but when someone asks for advice on a forum (i would never ask for advice only information so i can make up my own mind) it usually ends up with the forum 'experts' telling them and not actually advising.
 23.
Information on other subjects is often available too . Just don't ask for any hairdressing advice . Take it from me , that one got pretty nasty .
I regularly read the Bass Guitars, eBay - Weird and Wonderful and Basses For Sale sections and that's more than enough for me thanks. I have posted in the Off Topic forum occasionally but really can't be bothered anymore with some of the old waffle that's on it. Each to their own but like a lot of forums they are usually based solely on the 'I'm right, you're wrong' attitude so i see no point in them.
