1.
SGC Nanyo Bass Collections? Surely the penny will drop soon as to how undervalued and how great these basses are?
Now you're talking. I saw an early 1990s 301 for 80 quid recently. I bought one of the about 20 years ago brand new. Absolute gem!!!
 2. a Travel Bass bump
 3.
I would say kubicki ex factor, Billy's Attitude in green. original steinbergers. Pedals? Id say bass whammy, akai deep impact. Amps? '80s gallien kruegers.Aguilar .
Those are all definitely future collectables but also very collectable now. I was meaning things that were cheap and nobody really wanted. I remember seeing Mutron 111s going for 30-40 US Dollars in the early 90s. Also all those Jedson, Columbus, Satellite and Hondos that you couldn't wait to trade in for the real thing! Don't know how long you've lived in Twickers Ray but i remember that Bells of Surbiton was full of those brands in the 70s and 80s. They'd be worth a fortune now!
 4.
This question comes up from time to time, and the real answer is no one can really tell. However I think that there are 5 things that need to happen: 1. Will no longer be in production. The company that makes them might still be going but the collectable instruments will be ones that are no longer being made. 2. There was a reasonable number made (but not too many). Probably somewhere between 100 and 2000. I mustn't be so rare that the chances of finding one are next to impossible, but at the same time not so common that they show up on eBay every week. 3. There needs to be a fair degree of consistency from one example to the next. That rules out custom builders like Sei, where although they have a fixed range of body shapes within the ranges each instrument is so completely unique that the only common features are the shape and the name on the headstock. 4. The instruments have a unique feature (or set of features) that have not been copied elsewhere. 5. They are associated with at least one big-name player with a unique sound. Good luck with your predictions.
Of course no one can tell. That's the fun! The reason i was thinking this was a conversation had at my local guitar shop. They reckon that pointy guitars are going to be collectable in the future and i just wondered what else?
 5.
It's being brought in by Fender and that's the suggested retail price I assume inc Vat.
Cheers!
 6. I don't mean vintage Fenders, Gibsons, Musicmans etc but what basses that aren't a lot of money now are going to be collectable in say 10 years time? Just a bit of fun but who'd have ever thought that those Japanese guitars and basses of the 60 s and 70s would ever sell for the money they do today.
 7.
£1359 retail. Being classed as a limited edition.
Is that bought from a UK dealer with taxes paid?
 8.
Heard there's a special run of the Japanese reissue ones on their way soon, more 'reissue' in style, over a grand though. Not sure.
I would imagine that after shipping and taxes it's going to be a lot more than a grand when it lands on these shores.
 9. The Sadowsky thing threw me a bit but you are absolutely spot on with the Warrior. Well spotted!
 10.
Think he needs to see someone about his memory problems too. How you can forget maker and preamp make after only three years seems strange. Looks a bit like a Sadowsky.
Can't say i've ever seen a Sadowsky anything like that.
 11.
Saw it in half and see if it is stripey in the middle?
.........but take the strings off first.
 12. My original post was slightly tongue-in-cheek but i left an old MIK Squier Strat in the car for a couple of days and was surprised when i left it in my warm lounge today and noticed the condensation on the body clearly showed the laminate.

 14. Many BCers probably know this but i've just found how to tell if your guitar or bass is made of plywood without taking the neck or pickguard off. Put instrument in car and leave over night in freezing temperatures. In morning get instrument out of car and put in warm room. If it's plywood you'll see on the side of the guitar as the condensation forms the lines of the laminate clearly in the condensation.
 15. Have a bump on me for an Eighties-tastic neck through beauty.
 16. These are great basses. I bought mine new a few years ago and was amazed what good quality it was and with Fender's price rises this one is at a bargain price as well!
 17.
Oh yum! I'd be on it like a fat boy on a cupcake! It looks like crème brûlée!
Absolutely spot on! So very 1970s. Perhaps they'll bring out a prawn cocktail version.
 18. That's great. Personally i'd forget about E 6 figure numbers (unless i was planning to move it on) and simply enjoy it for what it is.
 19. bump
 20. The bassesbyleo forum is excellent. If you want an old G&L i wouldn't hang around too long. With the vintage Fender and Musicman prices going through the roof it's going to push the price of old G&Ls up. I have my eye on a nice early 1980s L1000 right now.
 21.
It's actually a post Gordon Smith Gordy Blueshift. They are very nice basses but I think this is a little overpriced for such a niche instrument. They made headless basses too - similar to Status. There is a thread on here about them somewhere. Edit he actually gives the link in the listing.
I was actually looking for a Gordon Smith bass but have seen more Gordys recently than GS basses.

 23.
Wow, complicated stuff. I just skimmed it but even so the convoluted variety seems endless.
Yes it is! I found that website when i was looking for a Squier Strat and had to read it a few times to work it all out. But it is a fascinating read. If you think that's complicated have a look at the article on Korean Squiers on that website! P.S. I had an E series Squier Strat many years ago and it was great. Really amazing value for the money. Wish i still had it!
 24. Although this deals with MIJ 80s Squier Stratocasters it's a fascinating read: http://planetbotch.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/truth-about-1980s-squier-strats.html Hope it helps.
 25. Fender also sell them
