1. There have been dozens of these on ebay over the years and whenever i see them i can't help but think who would possibly think they were even slightly amusing. It must be the musical equivalent of socks with cartoon characters on them. Sorry to have to break the news but no they aren't funny either.
 2. I have one of these. A great fretless bass at a very reasonable price. http://www.rmiuk.biz...0#TabbedPanels1 That's my actual bass in the photos.
 3.
The End.
That was by far the best bit.
 4. Wow! http://www.crguitars...signature-6-ltd
 5.
Tina Weymouth from talking heads, plays such a big part in the feel of that band!
....and most definitely NOT underrated.
 6. John Deacon, Pat Badger, Cliff Williams and Phil Chen underrated?
 7.
I wasn't entirely serious when I suggested it
I wasn't the slightest (let alone entirely) serious in what i suggested.
 8.
And what's more it would wear the bass in exactly the correct way for the owners playing style. Having said that, by all accounts, these factory produced relics seem to magically do this already.
It isn't magic. Oh dear now i've spoilt it for you. Sorry.
 9.
I already mooted this on the "accelerated relicing " thread
How wonderful, you must be so thrilled.
 10. I've just come up with the ideal thing for those who long for that 'road worn' look (not forgetting the feel of course) but can't wait for all those years of playing to pass. I have developed a jacket with velcro patches so that sandpaper can be attached to various points of contact with you bright new shiny guitar or bass. For the first hour i've found 50 grit ideal and then 220 grit for the final hour thus reducing in a few hours of gigs or practice to something that looks as if it has been thrown in and out of a van on a 20 year world tour. The downside is that the current prototype jacket is denim so at the moment it's only good for metal.
 11.
Damn right! A sander just puts thousands of tiny scratches into the body VERY quickly, as opposed to my arm which does it slowly over thousands of hours. The outcome is the same.
.....or not.
 12.
It's the feel that works, doesn't matter if a sander did it rather than skin
It can't be 'played in' if it hasn't been played.
 13. Maholo Baritone Ukulele I have just put on a brand new set of D'Adarrio T2 Titaniun Baritone strings. Ukulele has screw holes on rear of headstock where it was fitted with different tuners and a very small ding on one edge otherwise it's in great condition. £35 if picked up from Hampton, Middlesex or £45 posted to a UK address.
 14.
Played in basses do seem to feel nicer and more comfortable. I don't see that its important if that feel got there quickly or slowly
....but they can only be 'played in' by playing and not by using a sander.
 15. It's also amazing how similar it is to this one on ebay...........especially the fourth photo http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-FENDER-Custom-Shop-USA-VI-BASS-61-NOS-OLYMPIC-WHITE-THE-CURE-Jazzmaster-/171222068224?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item27dda16c00
 16.
http://www.musicalad...ts/37384#review Does this sound a bit too cheap?
....these are about £3,500 new.
 17. These were around £400 when new in the early 90s.
 18.
Think you put your finger on it Dingus, Sputnik may have had a superficial thrill but ultimately they didn't have much to say. I was reminded of the Manic Street Preachers first TOTP appearance by Mastermind last week (I didn't get one question, some fan me); Mister Bradfield wore a balaclava and staid viewers' knees jerked, 'Terrorist' they cried. Of course the Manics music has guts and message, so the pose worked.
Didn't work for me. In fact mentioning them in the same sentence with the Manic Street Preachers makes Sigue Sigue Sputnik slightly more credible though i wouldn't waste too much of my time listening to either band.
 19.
Don't rush into it with the budget you have. What's the rush ? Rega/project/ NAD all fit the bill. Checkout pink triangle also on eBay
A working Pink Triangle even without tone arm is well beyond the op's budget. Very nice turntable but up there with the Linn LP12 money wise unfortunately.
 20.
No disrespect intended to the posters above but I have owned a P3 and it is in my opinion much better than the P2 or the Nad 533 (friends of mine have owned both these models) and worth saving up a bit more to get, if you want to go down that Rega style route. I expect a half decent cartridge in the P2 would be fine but as you've already had the P3 then you'll definitely miss the nice glass platter! I don't know that Pioneer turntable and I like its retro looks! But there is a lot more to go wrong on that kind of turntable so if price is king then maybe better sticking to the Rega style where there isn't really much to go balls up?
I totally agree that the P3 is far better than the P2 or NAD but the op won't get one for the £130 he wants to spend on a turntable. Also i'd want to a new cartridge which would be another £70 for a Rega Bias 2 or similar. For the budget available the P2 or NAD is an excellent choice and is possible to be found for that sort of money. The Pioneer PL12 was the next step up from a Garrard SP25 in it's day and not up there with the performance of the either the P2 or the NAD.
 21.
I'm now left with another K-20B in blue, but minus a suitable bridge and with two broken pickup surrounds. Not sure what to do about the pickup surrounds
This is a common problem with the K-20B. There was one on ebay like that only recently. Many of them i've seen over the years have broken pickup surrounds as did mine when i bought it. I got the Bass Doc to make some for me and although they aren't recessed like the originals but what he made for me does the job superbly.
 22. As a K-20B owner myself then i must share this gem with you. Enjoy!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZkyw-r34HA
 23.
I think it might qualify as the first Rickenfaker as this model seems to have been made between 1971 and 1973.
Rickenfakers were around well before 1971. These Shaftesburys were around in 1970 for example. http://shaftesburyguitars.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/shaftesbury-p-4-1970-32613262-and-3263.jpeg
 24. I still have my Rega Planar 3 which i bought new in 1984 and had it upgraded about 7 years ago and it's still going strong. I agree with the previous post that a NAD 533 would be a good buy or a Rega Planar 2 which are a lot cheaper then the P3. Although the Pioneer PL-12D was a good turntable in it's day it's nowhere near as good as the NAD or Rega P2 which would be a far better buy.
