These have been around for a couple of years now and can't see what's hideous about them at all. Perhaps you can tell us why you find it hideous?
 2. This is one of my favourite Soul Train clips. Don Cornelius was The Man! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFBo5hHMUZM
 3.
I wouldn't like to try and carry a tray of drinks across the room in your local then... The Soul Train Line Dance is one of my best pick-me-ups: it's impossible to be morose watching any of them...
Trays? They wouldn't dare to have trays in our local as they'd soon be used as frisbees. You do have to get your timing right though when negotiating your way from the bar if 'Oops Upside Your Head' comes on the jukebox.
 4.
Yes, but you try that sort of dancing down at your local and see where it gets you ...
That depends on what your local is like. Down my local i doubt if anyone would even notice.
 5.
Just hang in there, one will pop up at a good price.
I love optimism. That's why i keep £500 under my bed for the day that a WAL comes up for that price.
 6.
Gotta laugh, apparently one did pop up for £200 BIN earlier today http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 With due respect to BetaFunk this was a bit of a freak event. It does however prove that it can happen
Yes but did it actually sell for that price? The listing says: This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.
 7.
There was a UK version of Soul Train for a while - hosted by none other than Chris Forbes who I went to school with..one of the nicest fellas you'd ever want to meet..
I remember that very well. It was great idea and was a good effort but what we all really wanted in the UK was the real Soul Train.
 8.
Oh I see, it's one of those threads where even the mildest criticism is frowned upon..
Not frowned upon at all but it just seemed a pointless comment.
 9. If you have £1500-£2000 to spend then i wouldn't concentrate too much time on looking for a late 60s one.
 10. Looks familiar? http://vintagefenderjazz.com/fender-precision-bass-guitar-1966-vintage/
 11.
It was definitely £200 BIN when I saw it, a few mins after listing.
+1
 12. I'd say you've got a great bass there for the money. I have one of Mark's cheaper Boomslang Jive Bass JV4SFL basses. It's a green fretless that was on show at the Frankfurt Musikmesse in 2013. It's a fantastic bass for the money. I've met Mark and as you say he is passionate about music, basses and what he sells. I couldn't recommend him or his basses highly enough.
 13. I have a MIM Fender Bass VI and it's better made than my 1974 Fender Jazz Bass or any other 1970s Fender i've ever seen.
 14.
Eurm... heard him do better than 'da blues'.
Jolly good for you. Most enlightening.
 15. BetaFunk, on 23 January 2014 - 12:18 PM, said: Musicmaster basses have shot up in price in the last couple of years. Even a tatty one will be £300+ and a decent one anything over £400.
Bass Direct have one up for £650, and I saw another one listed for over £800 by an online seller (not eBay).
Yes i've seen them with an asking price of nearly £1,000 but i doubt any sell at that price. Most seem to go between £370 to £450 at the moment but i've seen a couple in exceptional condition go for more. They are far too expensive now to buy and modify and still be cheaper than most new Mustangs. The days of the cheap Musicmaster bass is well and truly over.
 16. Two clips of Steve Swallow from 1966 and 2013. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=189dpPR1Yvc
 17. I like this clip of the classic PMG line-up because it features a bass solo from probably my favourite bass player Mark Egan. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zsRG2vVlfrs
 18.
Remember these bright young things (get the hair!!)?
That's THE classic PMG line-up for me. All of the PMGs have been good but nothing beats the Metheny/Mays/Egan/Gottlieb quartet for me. I saw them with that line-up at the 1978 Bracknell Jazz Festival and still remember PM on stage with that guitar hanging around his back.
 19.
Mind you, Paul S. has the right idea - get a cheap old Musicmaster and mod it out - vintage look and feel and still cheaper than either Mustang new (if you get the right one) - you can make your own 'Pawn Shop' model - that's what Fender did!!!
Musicmaster basses have shot up in price in the last couple of years. Even a tatty one will be £300+ and a decent one anything over £400.
 20.
Her Dad was responsible for starting the Rider Cup Golf Tournament - no relevance to this thread - just a useless piece of info I've acquired somewhere...

Is that similar the 'Ryder' Cup?

Very similar "to" the Ryder cup...but let's not get too pedantic about spelling and grammar...BTW where is "Lundun"...anywhere near our capital??
I'm really glad you thought that "Lundun" so so funny. Sadly no one else seems to view it with such humour. It was put under location for (very slightly) comic reasons and really didn't deserve such an accolade but nevertheless it is gratefully accepted.
 21. You can always buy a Waterstone TP12
 22. Not weird at all if Shergolds are your thing.
 23. Keep up chaps. Post #41 of this thread........... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/226735-shergold-marathon-more-questions/page__st__30
 24. If you can't afford that you can always have a go at bidding for Julian Cope's double-neck Shergold http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shergold-Doubleneck-Guitar-6-12-Twin-Neck-original-hard-case-/111260825937?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item19e7a97951
 25.
I'll bet that was a nervous time!! Glad it came through eventually
Fortunately it was less than £200 but it wasn't a good feeling. Also rather alarmingly the tracking changed during those days from where it said ithe address had been carded because no one was in (i was assured by the buyer that someone was in all day) to saying that the bass was waiting to be picked up from me when it had actually been picked up a few days before. Then out of the blue it was delivered nine days after it was originally picked up! Got to say though that all the other times i've sent things by City Link via Interparcel everything has arrived on time.
