1. The prices are are the Krappy website: http://www.krappygui...om/pricing.html Shipping for mine was about £50 and once imported the shipping and import costs were equal to the cost of the guitar. That's obviously the down side but it was still worth it to me.
 2.
No, you're fair enough mate, I'll admit that my estimate of their value in the other thread was somewhat lower than reality. I think there's a lot of them out there in very poor repair which explains the cheaper ones I'd seen (if my experience is anything to go by they're not as robust as the average Fender of the same era), and I imagine many of those - perhaps including the defretted one currently listed - are simply uneconomical to repair, hence the premium price for the good/mint ones. I have to say I really liked my Marathon, it was incredibly light and the neck was wonderful to pay, but it simply didn't have the tone I needed. I wish I'd tried it with flats though, I suspect that might have changed my mind at the time. C C
No worries Beedster. I still don't really understand why they are so expensive though. Some of the prices are crazy and it seems as if they have jumped up in price within weeks let alone months. I agree what you say about your Marathon and i love mine but wouldn't pay what they seem to be going for right now. The same goes with my 1970s Fender Jazz. I love it but glad i bought it nearly 20 years ago because i wouldn't pay what they go for now. What we need to do now is find out the next 'must have'. I'm thinking of buying up all the pointy 1980s basses i can as cheap as possible and hope they are next years 'must have' and therefore increase in price ten times. If they don't then i'll have enough wood for the stove next winter!
 3.
You're enjoying this, aren't you?
Yes, I must admit that i am but i've had my fun now.
 4.
'The listing was ended...' does that mean it sold, or just that... the listing was ended for some reason?
Perhaps they looked on some posts on BC and thought it was only worth a couple of hundred quid after all.

 6. I thought that these went for about a third of that price.

 8.
I'd come to a Morphine-themed gig (I've taken two strings off my Kramer The Duke... figure the aluminium neck is rigid and won't be affected by lack of string tension. Also the pup is somewhat mis-spaced so with only two strings I can get round that. Now I need to persuade the new girl at work to start playing baritone sax again...)
That makes three of us then for a Morphine themed evening. I bought a Reverse Jaguar type old tat guitar from Gear4Music for £35 and converted it to a 2-string bass. Although it is of course very short scale i was amazed how good it sounded.
 9.
You would if I was in the audience..... I played a couple of Morphine songs at an open Mic sesh with two like-minded muso mates, it went down so well we were all up for getting a full set together.
That's my sort of pub! Around here unless you played a few AC/DC toons you'd never be asked back.
 10.
It really depends on what level of postage/shipping the seller has used, I've had pedals arrive in 4 days before now but conversely I've had some pedals take nigh on 4 full weeks to arrive. Generally speaking, unless the seller has specifically marked the goods as a gift, you will have to pay a proportion of duty/VAT on the goods. Hope this helps!
Even if it is marked as a gift you may have to pay duty on it. As i said in my reply to the op, rather than listen to what some one said all of the information is on the website i gave the link to.
 11.
The link is what should happen. Every now and then things get through without the duty, so look at those times as a bonus, but always expect - and budget in - paying it.
Not only what should happen it states what might happen as below: 'If you're ordering goods from abroad, or buying and sending to the UK goods from abroad for personal use, you may have to pay Customs Duty'. Notice it says 'may have to pay' and that's why i posted the link.
 12. Rather than relying on 'what people say' you can find the facts on this website. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/customs/tax-and-duty.htm
 13.
Her Dad was responsible for starting the Rider Cup Golf Tournament - no relevance to this thread - just a useless piece of info I've acquired somewhere...
Is that similar the 'Ryder' Cup?
 14. I must say that i often prefer a lot of mundane plodding to a lot of twiddly diddly doodling.

 16.
Just hope it does not have the dreaded rod spin....
Rod Spin? Was he part of the Larry Parnes empire that created Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, Jimmy Justice, Adam Faith, Lance Fortune and Dickie Pride?
.....and most are way over the price of what the op was looking at.
 18.
Most Stingrays have a non lacquered necks these day's. I thought about having mine done but I quite like the feel of it after it's been waxed.
Are you sure that they are non lacquered? I'd be very surprised if they weren't lacquered. It may be a matte lacquer is applied as opposed to a gloss lacquer but they will have some sort of protective coating.
 19.
A number of pubs I play in have instruments hanging on the wall, usually a Strat and a P-bass, maybe an old trumpet, etc. They're not there to be played, it's more "look, look, this is a music pub".
They have boxing gloves hanging on the wall in my local. I wonder what the landlord is trying to say?
 20.
The cost was £670-ish
I think i'll wait for a near mint one on ebay for £200.
 21. Yes i remember when she did that. It's really clever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeri_Ellsworth
 22. As Smashie & Nicey might have said "You can't beat a nice night in mate, with a friend, eating a takeaway while listening to Starbuck. You can't beat a nice night in mate" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MD-7ly19vTE
 23.
Morphine?
Yes. It's a bit of a Mark Sandman [s]tribute[/s] no make that 'inspired' bass.
 24.
I love the look of the Krappy stuff. I quite fancy a one-string bass. Did you have to buy and import from the States? I've never seen reference to a distributor in the UK. Are you going take it out and play in public?
I bought it direct from Krappy in US and they sent it over to the UK. They built exactly what i wanted and it took a about three weeks from making it to delivery which i thought was excellent service. I don't play in any bands and i suppose you would be limited to what you could play. I can't see many pub audiences standing for an evening of Morphine songs. I will offer the loan of it to a few friends who play in bands to see if they want to gig with it for a song or two.
