2.
You'll not be 'liking' this, then...
Was this before Jezza adopted the two stooges?
 3.
If it is indeed correct to credit Pete Townshend as the first man to destroy his instrument onstage, it all began as an accident
Who (geddit?) knows who did it first but it's said that Charles Mingus destroyed a bass on stage long before that.

 5. I've seen a few groups over the years that i wish had smashed up there gear BEFORE they went on stage.
 6. I've often found that the bigger the rock star the duller the story. Eric Clapton's autobiography comes to mind. One of the best ever warts an' all autobiographies is by John Phillips of the Mamas and Papas. Am amazing and sometimes harrowing story that i would expect most on here would pass by but it's one of the best music related books i've ever read, and i've read a lot of them.
 7.
I've just been rooting in the loft and I've come across the old bass and was wondering if its rare / worth anything? I've not tested the electrics still work, but was wondering if any of you could help me out with any info at all.
I've had a few Watkins, Wilson & WEM basses and a still have a couple. They are interesting from a nostalgia point of view for me. The Blue colour you have is less common than the Red that most were but isn't that rare. Most bassess are either Red, Blue or White but they also made them in other colours which are by far the rarest. Blue was the second most popular colour. Being left-hand makes it rarer than a right hand one but that doesn't make it worth more as most collectors will want a right hander. P.S. It certainly is NOT skip material. It may not be the best bass you'll ever play but plenty of groups had these in the 60s and with very little work you have a nice piece of British beat group history.
 8.
So people are nagging me to give them ideas for christmas presents and am wanting music related stuff really. So what autobiographies do people recommend?
Does it have to be an autobiography rather than a biography?
 9.
I did a search on here in the sale section . Probably not an easy thing to do for the average P bass I guess, but when it's a one off bass it's quite easy. I found one posting on talkbass for what could be the 2nd owner, a guy in France, he later sold it on here.
That's amazing that you can trace it back to all it's owners. I salute you sir! The only bass i have that i know the history of is my 1963 Vox Bassmaster which when i bought it a couple of years ago had only had one previous owner!
 10.
While others have so few ? I recently took possession of a rather nice 6 string bass. Can you have too many 6 string basses, I don't think so. Anyway, the bass is 8 years old, and has had at least 6 previous owners, making me the 7th, which seems rather a lot in just 8 years. I'm puzzled as to why, because there is really nothing wrong with the bass, it play great, has a nice low action, the pickups and electronics are amazing, and very uncoloured. She also looks great, so why has she been through so many hands ?
Does it have a logbook or some other registration document? How on earth would anyone know how many owners a baas guitar has had?
 11.
Wasn't that an idiom? Aw, hell, it probably was an AMERICAN idiom. Sorry, not too good in switching between languages of kings and presidents
I'm sure that there's more than a few idioms on here.
 12.
In your opinion
Surely you mean IMHO?
 13.
Of course. But never noticed it like, you know, a slippery fish hitting my face.
Aren't all fish slippery?
 14.
No COMMENT!(sorry caps lock stICks from Time To time)-
'No COMMENT' to what? A quote to what you are commenting on might help.
 15.
"Are abitrary opinions dangerous?" or "Another thing that makes Basschat.co.uk a great site for bass players!" But here on Basschat I haven't noticed much of those personal opinions that are presented like they were Absolute Immanent Truth.
I'm sure that you'll notice a few if you look long enough.
 16.
The Bill Evans COTW episodes are listed here: http://www.bbc.co.uk.../guide#b03hjmx4 but when I looked they were all listed as "Not currently available", ?
As with all the Radio 3 COTW podcasts you can only download the edited version of the original 5 programmes which is 1 hour long.
 17.
Nice piece of music well played, he appears to be more skilled on the upright than the other basses imo.
Yes i'm with you there. Thanks.
 18.
French bowed db was my favourite, love it!
Why was it your favourite?
 19.
Of course there were some great songs but if you listened to the mainstream radio you wouldn't have heard much of these, No Radio One in those days so you'd have to wait till Sunday to hear most of these songs. This is the charts from my birthday week in 1965. A few great songs but an awful lot of potboilers too. I suspect if you look back at the 00's in fifty years time it'll look like a golden age too. My point is not that it was anything but a privilege to be listening to music in the sixties but that it is a privilege to listen to great music now. Some fantastic songs there. I had my ear glued to my transistor radio in the 60s. Myself and my friends at school always listened to Radio Caroline and Radio London which both started around 1964. We also had Radio Luxemburg in the evenings so there was plenty of opportunities to listen to this music even before Radio One opened in 1967 so i'm not really sure what your point is.
 20. Whenever i sing 'Money' in the shower it isn't long before it turns into this.............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lT4lsruu_KI
 21.
Never really 'got Pink Floyd even though I grew with my older brother blasting it the bedroom walls when I was young, so as with the Beatles I've discovered them quite late. What should I be listening to?
The first two albums are great. It all went downhill for me after that.
 22. That's really good. Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley wrote some great songs and that is a really nice version. Brilliant!!!
 23.
As a teenager in the sixties it is easy to look back on them as a golden age with so many iconic songs, look back at the charts though and it looks awful.
I've just had a random look at the charts in the 60s. Here are a few of the records that were in the charts in one week on 1965: Ticket To Ride - The Beatles Here Comes The Night - Them For Your Love - That Yadbirds The Last Time - The Rolling Stones Times They Are A Changin' - Bob Dylan Nowhere To Run - Martha Reeves & The Vandellas Stop! In The Name Of Love - The Supremes Bring It On Home To Me - The Animals It doesn't look awful to me and i reckon that there are a definitely a few iconic songs there. It was certainly a golden age of music for me.
