1.
Wasn't Jaydee in the process of making Jaco some basses?
Yes, the story goes that they were making one fretted and one fretless for him.
 2.
Did the Fender repro have the full burst on it or is my thinking way off beam here?
Yes and yes. Seriously though folks, i think that what people are questioning is that whether there was a Jaco signature Jazz Bass that came from the Fender factory fretted and the answer is YES!!!
 3. Sounds like something that didn't make the final cut (by a long way) of an album by The Rutles.
 4.
the fella from Simple Minds?
Sounds as if he left quite an impression.
 5.
or a jaco that been fretted
or a genuine fretted Jaco signature Jazz Bass that Fender made.
 6.
Gibson gone, and this one appears. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item33850d9da0 Note that the scammer's details are given in an image, so you can't search on them.
....and gone again!
 7. Of course Jaco played various basses including endorsing Guild Pilot basses but we all know that the bass he is most closely linked and known for playing is a Fretless Fender Jazz Bass. That's why i always thought that for Fender to offer a fretted version of his signature was a strange thing to do. Going back to the op, yes Fender did make a fretted version of the Jaco Pastorius signature bass.
 8.
What is a CJM Fanndec when it's at home? http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a30afb92c I'm not going to buy it, but I think it looks quite nice. A quick google shows that it's a UK brand but the instruments are made in China. Out of curiosity, are they any good?
Here's a 6-Sting version..... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/147639-cjm-6-string/
 9. ....and the Gibson re-appears! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Blonde-1959-Gibson-EB2N-EB2-Electric-Bass-Guitar-/390651938591?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&
 10. ...and it didn't take long. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-1966-FENDER-JAZZ-BASS-J-BASS-ELECTRIC-GUITAR-/390651938597?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item5af4ab8725
 11. The regular 'Jaco' signature model was available both fretted and fretless for a few years.
 12.
Not sure myself, but I can't help thinking that a fretted Jaco bass is a bit of a contradiction in terms ...
I totally agree. That's why i'm amazed that Fender made them.
 13. I'm not sure what the point of the original post actually is. Can anyone explain if there is a problem, what is?
 14.
+1 Also I said we got this far witout mention of Mark King. I didn't say I was adding him. We need to wait until someone say "he influenced me"... remove him please; unless you, dear Reader want to add him. Cheers Richard
Yes Richard, i was amazed that no one had added MK (i didn't because i don't find him inspirational) and presumed he hadn't inspired anyone who had posted but in reality as this is a list of well known British bass players it was extremely odd that he wasn't on it.
 15. Fender did make a fretted version of one of the many versions of 'Jaco Pastorius' basses.
 16.
Although Giblin is Scottish..... so does that count.....
Well we've had Nikki Sixx so why not?
 17.
Nikki Sixx
18.
Why thank you. It's an "I'm allowed to have a playful dig at my own basses" thing, in the same way that one is allowed to slag off one's home town AND get offended at non-residents who do. It is dorky to me. The thing is having spent a lifetime being alternately referred to as dork, geek and nerd, I don't see it as an insult. To me, the RD is a dorky bass. It's clever (hello, built in compressor/expander and bright mode in addition to 2 band EQ - may as well be a built in slide rule and pocket protector), awkward (needs its own gig bag/case, neck position relative to the body), non-conformist and most definitely not swimming with the tide. The RD would never go to a school dance, even if it was asked, which it wouldn't because it's "weird".
Yes, i can see that now. I will never see an RD in the same light again. Still a great bass though!
 19.
After my first (and last) visit to the Gallery, I'll never spend a penny with them, even if they have the last strings on Earth.
I've never been there but phoned them about a bass i'd been after for a while and was on their website (It was over £1,000) with the intention of buying it. I asked about posting it to me but wasn't given a price just that it would be better if i came in. I asked again about sending it and got the same reply so soon realised that this wasn't going to work so just said o.k. and that was that. I wouldn't bother again.
 20. Surely this has turned into just a list of British bassists. If this is a list of 'Inspirational British Bassists' then why is everyone listed well known? Surely someone must have been inspired by a teachers or by some bloke down the youth club or someone in a local band.
 21.
We got this far without Mark King. Does this tell you something about BC folk's vision of slap? (Lets not get into this discussion here)
If we are all listing players that have inspired us then maybe MK hasn't been an inspiration to any who has posted a list yet. I wonder how many people have actually posted a list of 'inspirational British bassists' or simply a list of well known or famous British bassists?
 22.
my link doesn't work anymore, it disappeared, the Gibsons still there though
Both have gone now. I fully expect them to appear again very soon though.
 23. I think i might tear up a copy of War and Peace and stick that on my old double bass.
 24. Watkins made a lot of these and they appear regularly on ebay. There's one for sale on there now.
 25. Some El Maya badged guitars were made by Chushin Gakki who at one time made Fresher, Charvels and Jacksons.
