1. I'd be more impressed if they actually said what percentage of the 10,000 each of the songs listed actually received. Why would the majority choose What's Going On over any other Jameson track and i'd love to know how many votes Pusherman got. On the other hand, who really cares?
 2.
By way of comparison , I just looked online and Glastonbury 2013 tickets are £216 , and that event is probably the closest equivalent to IOW 1970 .
I think that the closest they get to each other is there were a lot of bands at each and both were called festivals. I reckon that's where it ends. Glastonbury is the height of luxury compared with the IOW festival. People slept where they lay and the lack of food was a major problem. My brother shard a sandwich (we always went well prepared) with a girl who was crying she was so hungry! There was little food at the site and local shops soon sold out of all food and their shelves were so bare. Not to mention the hours of queuing for the ferries after it ended. Kids today don't know how good they've got it. Oh, hold on a minute, that's another difference. There are a lot more older people at Glastonbury that there was at the IOW!

 6. ..........more Jim Pepper http://youtu.be/r6xqeWQCzeA
 7. The great Jim Pepper was a Native America........... ...........later made famous by Oregon.
 8.
Thanks for the heads up! Just spent this morning learning that bass line to alright Now, harder than i thought!!
Andy Fraser's bass lines were good especially as he was only 16/17 at the time.
 9.
I wish I had been around in those days but I was just a toddler . I can just about remember clackers and the first record I loved was Blockbuster by Sweet . It was still cheap when I started going to concerts back in the late 70's / early '80's , and even the biggest bands were charging nowhere near the equivalent of the frankly ridiculous ticket prices the big bands are charging now . I think the major difference is that rock music really meant something to people in those days and was truly the voice of a generation , whereas nowadays it's just another branch of showbiz entertainment and consumerism .
The college circuit was amazing back then but the government so stopped all those grants to the Students Union so it all fizzled out. I know it's hard to compare with todays prices but to see the likes of David Bowie, Yes etc for 40 pence down the local college was a bargain even then.
 10.
Well, there was good and bad, just like now, but in general I reckon you're right. IPlayer link is . . . http://www.bbc.co.uk..._Roll_19701974/ . . . for anyone wondering what all the fuss was about.
I must say that a lot it is pure nostalgia on my part and i think i was on a roll after seeing Jenny Haan after all these years! I'm just watching 'Even More Guitar Heroes at the BBC' and memories are flooding back. Robin Trower has just gone into a mellow guitar solo and i'm back in the early 70s and can imagine my brother giving me a nudge at that point as a cue to get the beers in at the student union bar!
 11. Totally British: 70s Rock Part One: 1970-74 Just watching this programme on BBC Four. Brought back some great memories of the groups on there that did the college circuit in the 70s. Humble Pie, The Faces, Steve Marriott, Free, Status Quo, Man, Kevin Ayers, Thinn Lizzy, Family (Rick Grech was great!), Babe Ruth (oh, Jenny Haan!!), Sensational Alex Harvey Band , Pretty Things, Heavy Metal Kids plus bands like Van Der Graaf Generator, Blackfoot Sue, Juicy Lucy, Spooky Tooth, Blossom Toes, Cockney Rebel, Be Bop Deluxe, Edgar Broughton, Fruup, Gryphon, Vinegar Joe (Elkie Brooks / Robert Palmer). Chicken Shack, East Of Eden. These were just of few of the regular college circuit bands, the list is almost endless. It was so cheap to get in as well back then. Must have seen all these at some point. Wow. Weren't we spoilt back then?
 12. This Bass Maestro was still going strong into his late 80s! http://youtu.be/yVvAE6nSKC4
 13. I saw VdGG at St Marys College, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham in about 1970. Good band and happy memories!
 14. I wonder how many posted adverts before the fee was introduced actually wanted to sell their bass? You don't don't see the 'not sure i want to let this go' and 'this is just a feeler' posts any more so perhaps there are still the same amount of basses being sold but just not as many advertised.
 15. I'm still getting over seeing them at Kingston Poly in the early 70s. Never again thanks.
 16.
I am not from the UK so to transfer the 20£ is already another step which I have to take...I don't have visa and starting the whole thing with an international money transfer is perhaps the only way to get the money where it belongs.
I can't think of a simpler way of paying £20 than the one that Basschat uses.
 17.
The problem with all the guitar forums that I've been on is that they're overrun by either teenagers who think they know everything or guitar players who think that the amp needs to be on full tilt to get "their" sound.
I totally agree. I much prefer to listen to middle aged or old people who think they know everything.
 18. That's inflation for you............ http://basschat.co.uk/topic/207058-custom-made-solid-pine-bodied-sht-o-caster/page__hl__toilet__fromsearch__1
 19.
Id prefer just an encouragement to donate when making a sale.
I was genuinely surprised when i saw how few sellers actually made a donation. It was inevitable that a fee would have to come in with so few making a donation.
 20. One of the few things i've noticed since the £20 fee came in is there aren't as many....... i'd be all over this if it was a 4 string i'd be all over this if it was a 5 string i'd be all over this if it was 6 string i'd be all over this if it was fretless my uncle had one of these..... our guitarists auntie had one of these and swears by it my first bass was one of these so have a bump on me that's an Uncle Mat that is
 21. Sold............not on here though
 22.
But it would have cost you almost nothing if it hadn't sold on ebay - still £20 here if it sells or not. The £20 fee favours those selling high value items, but not someone selling a £60 bass for example.
Yes i see what you mean. Point taken.
 23.
Also, because the forum is broken and sends you a notification for every response you get to a thread, I reckon the amount of traffic will have reduced in general. There's less reason to visit now.
When is it broken? I've seldom had a problem.
