1. +1 Yamaha pacifica
2. Looks like a pretty handy design - though not sure if flimsy / any good in actual use.... would appreciate any feedback from those with experience of using these (or similar products!) 3. Wasn't me, officer sir, who played the offending out of tune high pitched squeaky sound. Ah, I never noticed the high C string - dunno how it got there...

5. Love the F-clef inflays , GLWTS
6. Is this good for (opera) metal? Just kidding, GLWTS, seems like a handy unit
7. Thanks for explaining! I also have a love-hate feeling with the old MEC preamps. Anyway, seriously nice Thumb!
8.

Luke, what do the pickup switches do? humbucker/series/eq? Lovely old-school Thumb by the way
9. sounds ok in my studio, phew! many thanks for the link :-)
10. an absolute steal. here's SoS from 1994... http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/1994_articles/jan94/alesismonitor1.html
11. 7/10, but would question the metal credentials of some of these questions. The quiz is not really metal enough
12. Eddie Van Halen P-bass!! (looks a bit like...)
13. Nice thumb p.s. cheap replacement battery cover can be found via this link... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/198137-warwick-9v-battery-lid-wanted/page__p__1958891__hl__warwick%20battery%20compartment__fromsearch__1#entry1958891
14. http://www.jhs.co.uk/dealershughesandkettner.html try this....
15. bought a sliding 1U racktray, arrived quickly. good comms. many thanks!
16. I try to avoid DV247 at all times, they come across as cusomer-unfriendly. On occasion, they are the cheapest ones around, though...
17. Awful news. Were you selling or buying?
18. now £80 in a relist
19. beautiful instrument, but too many small strings for me GLWTS
20. Good for metal?
21. Sorry if that's an obvious suggestion, but have you tried contacting Radial? - they are normally pretty good. Not come across with Radial boxes with issues before
22. Yeah it's not bad. Probably did not displace my "go-to" plugin compressors, but sounds nice on guitar/drum busses, and the ability to add the tube warmth separately is cool. I also noted the 1176 / LA2 hybrid design! Definitely fantastic deal at £0.00
23. Looks a stunning example of a classic bass
24.
Nice comparison! I'm partial towards Spectors but all the three others are great sounding instruments. Ww was a bit of a surprise as it sounds way beefier and stronger than my Ww Thumb NT5 from '91 did. Must be the soapbars.
I think you are right re: soapbars, IIRC pickup placement is also a bit different between the 5 and 6 models. My 1990 NT6 sounds VERY similar to this demo, even though it has different pickups.
25. good comparison. I think you did a great job capturing the tonal nuances of each instrument. The Warwick probably sounds the most distinctive and the Modulus the "clearest" to my ears.
