1.
I've had this before and it was the cable! Are you using proper speaker cable or regular jack/instrument cable? Not saying that IS the issue - but something I have experienced.
I'm using proper speaker cables but I get your drift. It's definitely the cab, there's little port-holes in the back and the smell was strongest there; even this morning.
2. Ok then. At rehearsal last night, about 2 and a half hours into a 3 hour session, I'd just boosted the high-mid on my amp and the treble control on my bass for a bit more cut. Bass control on the amp was at about 2 o'clock and flat on my bass. Just after I'd done that there's a nasty burning smell coming from the back of one of my DB112s. The was no noticeable change in the sound or drop in volume. I've had a look inside the cab today and there's no visible signs of burning though the smell is still there. I don't think I was driving the speaker hard enough to be frying its innards. Anybody have an opinion on whether it could have been the horn attenuator/crossover rather than the speaker? Is that even possible? I bought the cabs used a couple of months ago and have had no issues with them so far. My amp is a GK RB1001 and bass at the time was an Epi T-Bird Pro. Andy
3. Hiya, I'm in Woodbridge. +1 for the Bass Merchant. Andy
4. Guys, wasn't expecting such a tidalwave of interest. Wow! I'll check my PM's. I only paid £400 for it 3 years ago and it was pristine then.
5. I have a Warwick Streamer LX that I rarely use as I prefer my Jazz and Precision. It plays beautifully and has a very slim, fast neck. It has a few minor dings as you can see from the photos but these do not detract from the playability at all. I'd like £375 plus whatever the postage comes to and the price includes a Ritter gig bag.
6. Hi, I have a 2004 USA P bass for sale. It was professionally modded with EMG PJ pickups and is running an 18v circuit. Controls are Vol/Vol/Tone. It's in really good condition and comes with a Fender hard case. £600 ono plus any postage costs.
7. I have two GK 4 conductor speaker cables that I don't use. Both are totally as new. I was thinking £30 each or £50 the pair plus the postage but I'm open to offers.
8. Price drop. Now £125 including postage.
9. Don't know. I have measured the body end of the neck and it's 62mm wide, 26mm thick and the flatted part is 110mm long. I think the pocket on the body on the Jazz is about 95mm deep so 15mm of the flat bit would have been visible.
10. I have a lined fretless neck for a 4 string USA Jazz (a 1999 model) which was made for me by Mick at Zoot basses a couple of years ago. It was on my Jazz for a few months but didn't get much use and has been in a cupboard ever since. It cost £200 and is a thing of beauty!! I'll take £125 plus postage or swap it for a fretted Jazz neck of similar quality.
11. It is an S1. I thought about the distance after I hit the button and it would be a bit a mammoth trek!
12. I might be interested in a trade. Pic of my 2004 USA P bass attached.
13. Hi, I've got three active eq Peavey basses that I'd like to move on. There are two Fury five-strings, one fretted and one lined fretless & a Millenium AC BXP four string. Photos of the fives attached. I'd like around £150 each (plus shipping) for the fives which are both VGC and £120 (plus shipping) for the four which has a few cosmetic dings which don't affect playability. These basses are light and very comfortable to play and all come with padded gig-bags. Anyone interested?
