    Yes I’d put a smear of silicon under the tuner plate to hold it down i avoid drilling holes if possible

    For £700 a scratch plate wouldn’t bother me. It’s the more important parts that I think are amiss.

    Serial not found is a big red flag the blocks probably are stickers, but the ferrule and string retainers look a bit hooky to me, exactly as they did to @HeadlessBassist I’d say it was a bitsa

    I was told by a luthier and professional db player (who made his own cello, as you do) that on an acoustic db it’s not that important to be precise as the note takes longer to form as a sound by which time you’ve moved on to the next note. and breathe….
