  1. It’s not called “the dusty end” for nothing....
  2. A Japanese 62ri jazz that I bought from the late oldgit. Also a natural 75 ri jap jazz scored for just 300£ on eBay because stupid scheduled it to finish at 2am
  3. Yes get metal ones - best for playing metal
  4. That’s glossary 1.0, ready made, right there. Good work mister
  5. It worked out for Sting ...maybe it’s okay because he is already in the police ?
  6. It would be helpful for any newbie if you could explain at least the outline of what they’re about ? Kind of like “showing him/her where the toilets are”? figuring out some of “the darker magic” of basschat could take quite a bit of thread archeology. I’ve been here ten years and I still don’t know the reference behind “a waste of TIM”. @ped could we consider adding a glossary? We are getting to a point of jargon-load where there are too many references to obscure things that no newbie can expect to unpick and so integrate ?
  7. Take A look at this @julietgreen She’s not tall and managing fine
  8. @Harryb0201 you should be aware that “is that bass any good for playing metal?” Is something of an in-joke around these parts
  9. Many many moons ago I bought the white guitar version ... I got better .. with therapy
  10. But with books you can work at your own pace without constantly reaching for the Pause button
  11. He does books on every conceivable subject bass-wise and he gives really good examples. He was apparently a guitard once but chose instead the righteous path of bass
  12. Can I recommend Ed Friedland books to you @Harryb0201 he does lots of YouTube also. See also @Stuart Clayton for explaining extended scale patterns I also commend “bass guitar for dummies”, in the local library probably, as the author deconstructs the process of choosing notes for a bass line over given chords in a painless and informative manner. Lightbulb moment for me as he did it in just the right way.
  13. Au contraire, he seems quite happy to be talking about “old crap”
  14. Just teasing You - people on here are constantly reminiscing about the Encore jazz bass copy they painted purple and their first Westone ...
  15. Yes, leave that to the old folks 😛 seriously that’s a very sensible attitude
  16. No 15 year old should know this, they are so totally before your time back when gear was expensive and not very good ... lucky I’ve never found out about the jazz bass isn’t it ...
  17. Agree- I have the active one EST96a, was yellow now faded to see-through caramel belter - they still make them
  18. If I have one thing to suggest, it’s “read a lot of technique books until you find the right one” No point soldiering in with one that isn’t reaching you. Like when you get a new maths teacher and they do it differently and you just get it... totally and don’t give in to GAS (gear acquisition syndrome), the gear you have right now is probably more capable than you are. mine is light years ahead of me.
  19. I’ve bought cheap strings like that, they sent too many and told me to keep them. I sold them on as “no-brand” strings for peanuts and people were raving about them. funny old world ...
  20. Jeez- it looks like I did it ....
  21. I have a vintage stingray which awesome right out of the box leave it a while before you fiddle
