  1. No, because then you get into a world of pain with grain filling, sanding sealer...I’ve been there in my build thread and it felt like it would never end solid colours over failed sunbursts was good enough for Leo fender ...
  2. No, I’d just fine-sand the shine off to give the paint a key. Assuming the paint types are similar ... I put white nitro straight over a failed transparent blonde (the paint coat was lovely but the can ran out before I could finish) with just a minimal sanding
  3. Thank you, however I would prefer not see my name used, Tarquin
  4. I apologise for inadvertently trolling you. Never again will I tease you for your lack of incompetence 🥺
  5. You probably made a prosthetic finger replacement out of Wenge (maple core, naturally) that’s slightly smaller than the luminlay dots so you can use it as a press tool for them, I’ll bet it’s held in place by a (chambered) rivet made of narwhal tusk, magnesium powder and unicorn saliva
  6. I’m talking about mr bassworks and all the other people who seem to think that making a chambered headstock out of powdered fairy dust and having it blessed by druids (at solstice, naturally) and kissed by unicorns is just run of the mill stuff that anyone can do
  7. Leeds store was good IME
  8. I cannot stand all this effortless competence 🙄 just for once post “the fcuking chisel slipped ... I kicked the cat and crucified the dog. Twice. Bad day at perfection central”

  10. Don’t give him any opportunity to use “safe” or “sorted” or (shudder) “pukka” @NewUser don’t even ask ...
  11. They do insurance - I’ve claimed for everything lost and been paid - in line with most couriers it’s not high value insurance
  12. Lots - every single one sent by RM international standard got there - was a bit hit and miss pre brexit but fine now
  13. I send lots of stuff by rm international standard (airmail) - rarely gets lost
  14. I’m guessing the red splashes are blood, right ?
  15. So go back and snap it right now ... you can claim it was an accident, defective timber or (with an air of sulkiness) “it was that router wot done it”. No one will ever know
  16. I’m a programmer by trade and it was the worst interface design I’ve ever encountered
  17. Whisky sauce ? why not just drink the whisky ?
  18. I went total screening with copper tape and left mine in. I assume someone will come along shortly and tell me that this set up a distortion inducing sine wave between foil and plate and had the potential to disrupt international trade
  19. I have an sr16 and that was a total pig to program
  20. Yes, random Intermediary couriers are a common hazard
  21. Yep - had just the same experience except they also smashed mine up. It had to go back to prosebass to get repaired at my expense
  22. Parcelforce will charge you for insurance but don’t actually cover instruments except under very strict conditions - like it’s shipped in a purple flight case, on a Tuesday and has a sign saying (exactly) “beware of the leopard” I’ve had no trouble with UPS @chris_b inter parcel are not a courier, but rather a broker- you could end up with Hermes... I’ve also had a very negative experience with Menzies recently where I now won’t touch them with anyone’s barge pole
  23. Think of it as pale magnolia 😛
