  1. Meanie ....
  2. Given that he never changed his strings and used a foam mute I think any difference in sustain in his case would be negligible his was a 62 which I think is not string thru - correct me if I’m wrong
  3. 🍿 time .... I think lozz had the best answer; it’s easier to change strings. Otherwise imho the difference is negligible
  4. You did it for valid good reasons, not just aesthetic ones
  5. Now you’ve totally gone and f cking spoiled it
  6. He doesn’t always play root notes, listen to “please” and “bad” but sometimes that’s just what Is needed and we as bass players should not shy away from that as if we were guitards...
  7. Yes my partner for one. She cannot see A difference except that “that ones a bit bigger”
  8. I look at your angled neck transition there (which you wouldn’t see on a fender) and I’m reminded of the story about the designer of the spitfire putting the chord on the wing joint simply because it looked right rather than for any objective engineering reason at all
  9. You’ve picked the wrong wood ... you want some of that lighter wood you’ve used for the body it might make a nice coaster though (for a kidney dish) 😛
  10. See my build thread for paulownia - total nightmare, not just grain filler but also paint
  11. Your ears will tell you if it’s wrong. There’re are no rules as far as I can tell besides if it sounds right then go with it, if it doesn’t it’s probably jazz
  12. Never made that distinction of slightly Just underrated is enough
  13. Yep @AndyTravis is spot on - 1992 beware pickup sizes will be the same front and back
  14. The recorded facts ? Yes that’s right, they are indeed emanations of the devils backside. Read book of Genesis (amended) - on the seventh day God said “unfinished business ... let there be sheryl crow, and also tort”
  15. Said nobody with any sense of what a proper bass should look like. It makes the sound better; the more custard in it, the better the sustain** ... Custard sustains you *** ** this claim may not be fully supported by an objective scientific investigation *** probably true in the absence of other calorie sources
  16. Needs tort ....
  17. There’s always the postal option ...
  18. I did it and it was a huge mistake as I utterly messed up a lovely white white maple p bass copy
  19. I had this - their terminals use GPS but that only has a 10m radius resolution From space so it may have been delivered next door or left somewhere. If a neighbour doesn’t bring it round I’d challenge the postman with what he/she did with it. I think that some posties scan it then put it in their pockets. We have very obvious cctv so no one tried it at this house if no joy then definitely report it not delivered at Royal Mail cust services
  20. It was a warm day - daughter in bugggy in Mac Donald’s - shed taken her socks off. Beggar approached and held out hand, I pointed at daughters feet. beggar held out a fiver ...
  21. The way I see this is that we do this anyway ... imagine bass playing by root and fifth in a ii v i progression based around c, you’d play D and A, G and D followed by C and G. To make it more interesting you’d throw in some chord notes such as F from the Dm, the A as a passing note in the G and do on that’s a mode, isn’t it ? D Dorian right there..then G mixolydian
  22. I actually had a gypsy beggar offer me money ... true story
  23. For a jazz ? Red or brown I have actual celluloid available, poured, not printed as you can see from the depth of the top layer I just rubbed some brown shoe polish on the white Black white layer and it looks fairly convincing as “old”. You can’t make proper old style celluloid now as the chemical they used are noxious (I understand)
  24. Emphatically yes
  25. I got a big box of them (lots of kinds) quite by chance so yes Let me know
