1. I think it’s down to the twin streams of bass playing. The vic Wooten / Jaco school Of flashiness leaves me cold, I’m afraid. The former quorum serve the song whatever their own private level of virtuosity, it’s just not needed. If you listen to “Love comes tumbling” there is a degree of talent there not normally seen in u2 so I wouldn’t say that AC, Mike Anthony etc can’t step up just because they normally don’t record it.
2. We moved on the 9thand are still Unpacking Mostly to do with mr vendor messing up the carpets totally and not mentioning that quite a lot of appliances, floors and and features were broken
3.
On a more genuine bass thing, I recently found a tub of old bass strings, including some which Gordon Rowley (of Strife) gave me after a gig at Forest Town in Mansfield in the 70s.
So sweat and skin on them, matured in a tub for 40 years .., that must smell lovely
4. No, never Bass, with long graceful neck, floor shaking voice and head turning capability plus habit of getting people to dance is just too awesome. The only thing that I’d have as a second horse to ride, is piano - I quite fancy being able to play piano simply as they much more easy to find around and about
5. I bought a bass off Leigh Gordon of morcheeba. It had the most sky high Jamerson action I’ve ever seen - eight full turns over time to take it
6. Brandoni might have the original parts - ask them is my advice
7. Are they eu standard bananas ? What if they don’t have enough relief to align with the neck ? Fitting the banana with a truss rod could work - twin rods shared with the neck perhaps a la Rick ?
8. Sliced or whole ? It could be a 1.5 mm slice and thus quite low
9.
Not sure of the weight off hadn, but I could weigh it if wanted... it didnt build up into a heavy bass. According to the Fender website, the body of the VM Squiers is Soft Maple?
I think that’s only the natural finish ones
10. I bought two last time, still working perfectly on original batteries No complaints at all from me
11.
You're right - it's probably because of my sex farm holiday website. Bloody puritans.
You were living on a sex farm, in spinal tap style ?
12.
Do you have no appreciation at all of how good Rutger Gunnarsson's playing is in this song?
He absolutely is a bass god.
13. As said above, play some acoustic bass, or lose all effects and see if you feel different Nothing matches bass
14. Thanks But for the yellowing on the edges I have some plates just like that
15.
The celluloid tort looks not half bad for the price.
Don’t tease me ...pictures ! I demand pictures right now
