  1. P bass, 70s TSB with dark red tort. Battered
  2. Too marks for getting a bass loving - or even bass-aware GF my better half is totally convinced that guitar and bass are the same 🤐
  3. Not sure - can’t open that link in safari
  4. you don't say what issue you are experiencing ?
  5. probably same guy - acton ? its really lovely tort.
  6. I got a nice RW mighty mite neck from Groover Harder (pics to follow) - nitro lacquer I'm doing this on a money and time budget so there will be no nordstrand content, sadly Plans are : paulownia body from ebay (cheap) deluxe neckplate with rounded-off edge, heel sanded down to suit. , White-mist stain with thin nitro laquer ( so OW but translucent) celluloid tort plate with lower tug-bar 60s style stack knob from Kiogon BBOT bridge with threaded saddles. cheapie pickups from somewhere but maybe BluesTributes from Ebay US as their P version gets mucho compliments
  7. I got a nice RW mighty mite neck from GrooveHarder and you can get nice Paulownia bodies on ebay for not much. I'm a bit bored of sunburst so see-though Olympic white seemed a nice idea.
  8. I'm thinking about a paulownia body for my build and I'm quite inspired by Whitemist above. Thinking about a left-field take on the Olympic white and tort with rosewood look - thin nitro lacquer on top. Deluxe neckplate and rounded heel instead of the usual square off Anyone got any wisdom to offer on this stain and lacquer approach ? Apologies for the thread hijack by the way
  9. Has anyone tried one of these ? Ebay item 372177579911 i know it’s only paulownia and not hallowed magic wood of the type breathed on by fairies and anointed with pixie dust as elves dance around it but are they any good for fit and taking paint ? Thin Olympic white nitro probably he gives neck pocket measurements - I have a standard mighty mite neck courtesy of mr “groove harder”
  10. Perfect for u2 then
  11. I'm not elderly though I probably should know better
  12. never too old. You can get lightweight basses. Don't stop.
  13. Genius idea
  14. Looking a bit haggard these days
  15. Is he not a little patch way out west ? *you need to have listened to kd Lang on “home on the range” movie
  16. Sounds like poor earthing rather than EM interference
  17. Do you actually need to shield a p bass ?
  18. Not for the entire 70s, no. It depends exactly when it was made and even then they frequently used up old parts out of order and after changes were supposed to have happened. It’s not uncommon for pots and pickups to predate their instrument by a few years http://www2.fender.com/experience/tech-talk/what-is-micro-tilt/
  19. I’m getting arthritis in my two plucking fingers - thumb mis probably what I’ll end up doing as I refuse to use a pick .
  20. was the lovely Katie Humble there ?
  21. Impressive is my choice
  22. I'm sorry I should have read the thread more closely. I would have gone for the Fender model as I like the slight click-feel as it drops out of circuit. CTS doesn't do that. I'm using a "Blues tribute" model that I bought from ebay (seller is in the US but ships quickly) - with a fender brass grounding plate in the back of the pup. Here is his link on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/ONLYMUSIC-BLUES-TRIBUTE-VINTAGE-PRECISION/dp/B00DC9FI58 - he does jazz and 51 style also -they're very reasonably priced. It wasn't expensive but it sounds really thumpy yet also woody. I don't have a valve amp but its the kind of tome (when on full) that would overdrive just nicely. I do know from personal experience that through a zoom b2.1 on the Ampeg SVT patch it sounds "totally awesome" (in the words of a young lady there who said wisely "we need more bass around here") , it made cups and glasses rattle quite nicely even at low-ish volume. I'm happy.
