1. Mine actually suggested it - it worked out fine
2. I'd suggest it was a replacement body if you like it, you like it, but I think it's overpriced for what I think it is. You can buy genuine 70s basses on here for that, there's a 70s jazz in white listed for c 1200
3. I see no serial in that neck pocket photo - can you see one?
4. Body stamp in neck pocket ? It's a bit dark but maybe a custom colour ? 70swere all about brown and orange Pots do have codes, the tech guy is wrong
5. OM folk love my fake beat-up fender, people come over and talk about it
6. Wash as normal with a low spin. I received one that was mouldy and stank of fags and it came up pristine. Unzip it fully and turn it inside out. Unless it has any leather on it, obviously
7.
I know what it's like to lack support for just about everything. I was lucky that I developed an interest that fitted an idea my dad had. He liked the idea of a musical family, which is why he bought instruments, he also liked the idea of a family that had books. He filled the house with books, but never read them, and I got the piss taken out of me for reading a lot... I was the first person in our family ever to go to college. Which he didn't like because I should have been going to work (though I had left school early and worked until the day I was officially supposed to leave school). He was far prouder of my brother who became quite an accomplished . People think I am cold or odd because I don't put much stock in family for family sake.
No, I totally, totally get this
8. My mum can pick out a tune on any instrument so I guess that's talent of a kind. My father had no discernible talent of any kind. I had to buy everything myself and teach myself everything, just determined I suppose. The first time a crowd went wild made it all worthwhile
9.
Nothing more than £400 bass wise, I've got 2 COG pedals I didn't strictly need but I get a nice gooey feeling inside supporting a local gear maker and of course the pedals themselves are excellent.
Yep I'm with you. £450 to the bass doc for an awesome 3tsb precision with subtle aging on the neck
10.
Possible in theory but I cant imagine any circumstances under which this would be a good idea in practical/cost terms.
Quite Why not just buy a shortie?
11. Cover it in a fold of decent cardboard and some brown paper and you can ship for 2.85 as a small parcel. Padded envelopes aren't up to it
12.
Here is the bass in question, it has a jazz neck which I believe just a few of them had around this period, it is quite chunky but feels great, especially for me as I prefer the jazz width, but love the P tone.
I'd keep it like that, I'm getting excited just looking at it
13.
I forgot to mention, the bit of paper that comes with it - either no-one else has noticed that it says "USER MANAUL" or I have a rare version.
Mine too
14. Would you repaint a Victorian dining table ? It's not like Victorian varnish was awful but it would be a bit of a shame
15.
What Owen said. Personally, I like a genuine worn bass, so buckle rash, worn off paint and battle scars wouldn't bother me at all.
What he said .... I mean "word"
16. Yes I fixed one up off eBay - it was totally awesome
17. I doubt it's ash, more likely alder. I don't think you were done, but my personal opinion is that you paid a dealer premium price and that you would have got a better deal on here. I do think it's issues can be sorted out though and yes you should raise it with the seller and possibly eBay as I don't think he was completely straight up
18.
Mine hasn't left Illinois yet according to the tracking
But it made it from there secretly; was waiting for me when I got home
19. A vintage stingray copy that my partner secretly bought for me and my relic p bass (built by the bass doc) are the only two electric basses I own My life would be shorter if I sold the first and the latter looks and sounds effortlessly cool so no need to sell either
20. There was an original listed recently
21. Mine hasn't left Illinois yet according to the tracking
