1.
I know a very good studio engineer/producer who's also a brilliant bassist and owns several 70s jazzes as he finds them the best basses ever. I won't mention his name as he's somebody in Poland and here he's just unpronounceable He thinks it's a combination of things (obviously), but the biggest part being a heavy ash (not swamp ash) body with its grain filled by Fullerplast, that very dense, heavy stuff. He had a couple of newer basses refinished this way and claims to get very close. Then of course the pickup position, the pickups themselves etc...
I always thought they used Swanp ash what other kind of ash would they have used? Swan ash grows in the US I asked out of curiosity because I want to build one
2. Given parts bin nature of fender build it could be either
3. I just plug my bass into the zoom and that straight into the PA. It just works and its plenty loud enough to shake cups at 30 feet. No amp needed.
4. There's a couple for sale right now in the marketplace, budget depending of course
5. i wouldn't worry about it being a badass bridge, its a straight replacement if you ever wanted to put the OE one back on, and they're nothing special.I'd buy it, if it were me.
6. i've had a jap strat and jazz bass - I regret selling both.
7.
Fair enough. (You're not a nun either are you?)
No- I have small children and a long commute
8.
THIS fret wraps reduce unwanted finger- on- rounds noise and resonances anyone suggesting it mutes fretted notes has a poor understanding of physics , musical knowledge and logic
Only thing that will do that surely is a bridge end mute
9.
I like the idea as a "get out of jail free" option to have in the bag when jamming but I'd want to relearn, in my own time, the tune on an open fretboard later. I don't have any tunes in my rep that require special tunings other than drop D for which I have a five. I like to keep things simple.
Sure but I only play st OM nights and get zero practice time so it's my best option
10. There's only one picture , just the headstock - what colour is it ?
11. i shamelessly use a capo when I'm feeling too tired to think about moving a pattern to another key I've not troubled what anyone else thinks
12.
*squints at photo* How does it have any effect on non-open strings? Am I missing something?
I had the same thought...
13. Oh dear god ANOTHER boring For Sale ad... Dull as ditchwater ...basschat is really going downhill (Kidding, it was epic)
14. Doesn't the crime flake off with real use ? Certainly gave a good enough result for my purposes
15. yes, typo on my part there, typed E meant N - pesky iphones some info : https://www.talkbass...mim-etc.857688/ If you read down that thread, you'll see a suggestion that they also made some of these in 83 - an E prefixed serial so I was potentially right without even knowing it. Go me. So those would possibly be US-made as the NAfta maquiladora thing hadnt really got going then.
16.
I'm sure this is how my wife does her roast potatoes.
in tupperware ?
17. And that badger isn't talking ...
18. Late 80s American made What's the serial ? E8 something ?
19. ohh [sad face] too much - enjoy though
20. Oh nice can I ask how much? Not that I have a birthday coming up at all
21. Try a mixture of vinegar, green toilet duck and a little salt-don't be tempted to put it near a metal container-it will burn its way through aluminium - Tupperware works well
22.
https://www.netlawma...on-owner#Seller in possession after sale This sums it up as clearly as possible imo and for all but the most complicated of cases as long as you can prove the goods are yours you'll be handed them back and the buyer, in this case cash converters, lose out and need to take up the dispute with the person that bought them in.
Assuming that person hasnt injected the proceeds by then
23. i know a guy who has 30, and THEN bought one more off me. Yes he is a member here
