I’ve got the vintage stingray clone and it’s really good

My “spider” branded one was exactly the same. Duff saddle pickup , or poor pre amp would be my bet. Look on eBay for a fishman clone preamp would be my recommendation - I put one in a twelve string and low E sounded mighty. It may suit a bass too, it only cost £20 delivered so not a bank breaker to try. Artec do decent bass under saddle pickups so maybe try swapping that first

Only ever once, and that was top G on an acoustic 12 string (a 12 string isn’t really a guitar as such, so I don’t feel dirty to have owned one)

That’s what pulled me in bear in mind that with a preamp you can get a conjoined tuner and that’s quite handy

we just got a new boiler (worcester bosch with Hive) and its totally awesome. Worth every penny. A bass won't keep you warm; unless you burn it of course.

any typos on the packaging? faded colours are a bit of a giveaway if present

I tried a different piece of wood today, which has a slight coating already just like sanding sealer would be. I shook the can all the way into work and shot a quick stripe over the test piece once I arrived. Results were better, pictures at lunchtime as it was too wet to judge fully Picture 1 left side untouched, right side two thin coats Picture 2 thin grain filler, unsanded
