1.
Depends on your budget. I personally think the VM Precisions are the best compromise between quality and value, coming in at sub-£270 price points in most cases. I owned one for a little while and it was a cracking bass. That said, the top of the (Squier) range CV basses are phenomenal. They're a little more, but if you can afford the cash they're worth the investment. It's worth noting that the CV and Matt Freeman basses are virtually the same (hardware, body wood, pickups and origin) it's just the fretboard that differs, so if you're deciding between those two it is safe to make a call based on which you prefer the look of.
Generally go for half that used on evilbay. Very underrated, I had the White /black/ rosewood one but the natural one looks great too
2. No problem You got a serious bargain there I'm not an expert but you do see the occasional transitional model that doesn't quite fit the patterns stated
3.
I've a 6-string fretless, 5-string fretted and a 4- string fretted. I've never bothered about details such as scale length, spacing etc. I just play them. I may be odd, but I find it easy to adjust to the instrument, rather than try to find any particular set-up. There are extremes, of course, but millimetres are not a concern of mine. When playing other people's instruments, it's the same. I adapt. It's rare that I find anything unplayable. Sorry if this doesn't help much.
It does , and I agree. You should be able to play most instruments within reason
4. http://www.activemusician.com/Squier-History--t2i199 Very high quality copy of the real thing Also http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squier
5. Don't usually like red, but that is hot with a capital ouch.
6. I just started doing open mic nights and tbh I wouldn't lend my bass unless it was being used right in front of me. It's nice and I don't want it screwed up. I always take a spare even if it's only acoustic
7. No - don't really hate it. My daughter writes her own songs and sings them. Proper ones with verses and so on. she's only five and I celebrate the talent
8. Isn't tipping in the us just to subsidise lower pay ? Think beginning of reservoir dogs. You say this yourself whdn you observe the haircut pay situation
9.
Sorry mate but that's wrong about the kbd and the marble mouse and wrist rests.
I have had tendinitis and also thumb and wrist problems. I use a laptop all day and given a wrist rest and marble mouse they go away totally, so no, it isn't wrong
10.
All correct fella's - I''m using a laptop ALL my working day (with current employers for almost 12 months). Went to the Doctors yesterday. Honestly speaking - I've been ignoring / managing the symptoms for at least a couple of years. As a male - going to the Doctors is an achievement - I really had to convince him that I've been living with this for a couple of years and self managing the symptoms, it's not that I woke up earlier this week thinking "my wrists are a bit sore". I've ordered a separate keyboard to be able to sit in a more neutral position.
Seper ate kbd won't necessarily help - what you need is a wrist rest, a marble mouse, and properly oriented desk and chair.

12.
I've noticed quite a few positive posts on this forum about Peavey basses. Not played one myself but from general opinion on here they seem to sound pretty decent!
I've got one and they are quality. Grinds are good
13. Wasn't there a westone that came with two necks back in the late 80s ?
14. Thinking of getting a thumper pickup after talking to dave Walshe
15. Happy with the zoom b2.1 I mostly use the amp sims and the compressor and also the drum patterns for jamming
16. Roscoe beck did a very good blues tuition dvd that went through this sort of thing
17. Like the look of the strat with custom wood and paint options
18.
I would. When it comes to British cars of the 60s my rose coloured glasses are firmly put away in a drawer.
I've had one - it was a money pit
19.
Don't give up, stay out there, look at all opportunities not just the perfect opportunities.Above all be prepared when something comes up. Blue
See, this is what I think Americans do well. Not saying there aren't Brits like this too but it's the cultural outlook that I think they get right
