I had that Emmanuel Macron on the phone the other day, he said he was trying to find models for the replacement medieval gargoyles that were lost in the Notre Dame fire … and could I suggest anyone?
I thought about mentioning a certain blonde french woman but I think I may just have struck gold here.
I’ll donate the finder’s fee to @lee650 even though he sold me a rubbish bass that took forever to arrive, not least as he’d shipped it via the Congo**
** not all of this is true, possibly none of it
I went to an OM. It was totally dead. The host was nowhere in sight so I hung around for ten minutes and gave up. The landlady told me it hadn’t gone well. As I was leaving a young lady at a table near the door said she’d wished I’d got to play (she obviously hasn’t heard me or she wouldn’t make such a ridiculous claim).
I said that sadly bass is not a solo instrument and other people are needed, unfortunately not the case tonight.
Her blank look at the word “bass” told me everything I needed to know about perceptions of our instrument but it was nice that she said it.
someone I presumed to be the host scuttled into view at that moment and headed for the om area, he didn’t see me though he passed within a metre or so. I hope the landlady had a word about not deserting his post
I don’t like his music but there’s no denying the influence he has had on other artists. I don’t think you are correct in your assertion. His creative years were done before I was born so I’m probably going to feel less “shocked” than if, say, John Taylor, died but it doesn’t mean that I think BW irrelevant
Adagio flats (ebay and Amazon) are, to me at least, very acceptable giving huge bang per buck
I didn’t like fender flats, but the guy who bought my p bass, in a different galaxy to me talent-wise messaged me after to ask what they were (adagios) as he really liked them
@John-E-Retro probably doesn’t recall after this long but he was very helpful with regard to putting a piezo bridge into a jazz bass and balancing it with the other pups
