2.
Tinkered with guitar on and off for years and never really mastered it. Any tips on the best way forward, had some lessons but all the tutor was doing was learning me a new song every week but nothing else. Any good books or sites out there to have a gander at? Cheers.
Yes change the strings for bass ones
 3.
NO!! Well, now tell me this isn't a true blue USA Fender http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OLD-HOUSE-CLEARANCE-BASS-GUITAR/112270155837 Encore I believe.
To be fair he never claims it is one, and notes that the decal has probably been added
 4. why would you bother? Squier VMJs are perfectly respectable and hold their value well. They punch well above their weight in my humble opinion. Actual fenders have faces that discolour more quickly that the side or rears as they used to use a different varnish to cover the decal so it really doesn't matter what you use and it may even end up looking cool, as a poster above noted.
 5. Totally unreasonable buyer
 6. Nice !
 7.
yeah agreed, when done well, a subtle bit of sunburst does look good in my opinion. Just debating whether or not to refinish it all olympic white and let the sunburst come through naturally, as its nitro
I would - and I would also stick with the tort

 21.
Using these in combination can deepen your "palette" as it were.
True I tend to swap about depending what I have to play, I see this as preferable to rigid adherence to one mode
 22.
You know, at first I wasn't sure - but I've seen the light and the tort is great. Much better than black with natural finish I think..
I might buy some tort for my vintage brand mm copy, now I've seen that
