1. Anti recommend is alesis sr16, totally wierd programming keys**. Hear Zoom ones are easier ** I'm actually a programmer by trade and I think it (the sr16) is totally illogical and counter intuitive
2.
I think the problem here is where it could lead. One album from a group that no one here likes is one thing but what if it got to 1,000s of albums a week? That would be a different level of annoyance and drive people away. Guess Apple would be aware of this though...
Some people who posted here do like them if you read back; i like them a bit less after this
3. Nitro is very old school, fender went over to acrylic in the early 70s I think so any "original" natural finishes (which I think most naturals were produced) would be poly ?
4. He likes it and approves of the pickup and neck profile
5. how precisely is it different to a standard precision (ignoring cosmetic considerations) ? I'm honestly curious
6.
I thought I'd had my account hacked when I first saw it. I don't particularly like U2 or hate them (obviously I hate Bono, that's standard!) but didn't feel strong enough
Even Bonobo gets tired of Bonobo sometimes, I heard him say so. "Make Bono History. Now" I say. I downloaded it and listened on way into work. Not a standout album; liked "Iris" (new order style bass) and "reach" (a decent bass driven stomper); rest fairly pedestrian. Even includes standard eigth note bassline on one tune, but it sort of works there. Will probably delete most of it except two tracks mentioned. I dont care that Apple put it there, it took up no storage until I downloaded it, and I can offload it if I want. There are bigger issues,.
7. CH was quick to pay and good at comms. Happy to deal again.
8.
How much difference does a signature make? do more people actually buy them? I guess they must or fender wouldn't bother... For me thats a lovely bass ruined by a signature...
I do agree that theyre probably not worth the extra unless they contain some truly out of the ordinary associated feature, such as say, Yngwie Malmsteen's scalloped board that would allow the buyer and fan to play his music, in his style, more easily. A direct connection, if you will. I dont think a matching headstock or unbound blocks are so exceptional,or that a simple black, white, maple P are so exceptional. They are purely cosmetic.
9.
Sort of thought an Adam Clayton would be based on his original Precision with Jazz neck bass with the chunk of scratchplate missing.
Agree, with relicus maximus
10. Surely not a coincidence that this happens when edge and bonio join fenders board but he has had a fender sig before - a master built sparkly gold precision That one reminds me of the Sherwood green jazz he played on the NYD video and also the vertigo tour-read that he swaps rosewood necks for maple as it's easier to see the dots on maple apparently
11.
I bought B/cer Cayston's Montreux Celluloid tortoise shell pickguard on here, great bit of tort -I'm finally happy with the looks now
Wonder where he got it
12. Matte_black from this forum makes very fine split cool noiseless pickups to order. Try him perhaps Make sure you quote the sizes to him if you do order
13. I have played both - i liked the rolled FB edges on the STD. You also get a nice case. I'd pay the little extra for a used (ie fettled) US P over the Special. The Special feels fine, and if youre on a tight budget it will do nicely.
14. Sounds ok then - must be a fault on the stock pickups as mine was perfectly behaved with stock pups. Could be your house wiring making if worse
15. Did you use copper foil with electrically conductive glue ? Use a multimeter to check - mine had only 0.008 ohm resistance between jack socket and furthest point away You probably have a break somewhere Thought : you did join the shielding to earth right ? You can curl some up under the bell plate
