5. Was in Florida earlier this year with time to kill in evenings so started learning bass clef, haven't touched it since or practiced. Surprised myself by being able to read the dots for Xmas wrapping by the waitresses in A without too much trouble - including rhythms It's not that hard folks, if I can do it.
 6.
Thanks y'all! I've also heard that about lemon oil and have avoided it for a while too, agreed - this is the problem that I've also come across before (not a lot of facts). I'm going to give the stuff I've got a go for a while as I found some of the cleaners I used before gave me itchy fingers and left some crap on my fretboard too, but good call on the brasso! Off topic - TheSiberian, what's the music scene like in Luxembourg? Are there many good venues there to check out?
Use a fret mask or masking tape to protect the board tho

 11. I just used a metal fret mask (off evilbay) and some brasso, and 20 year old brass frets came up like new T cut scratch remover for the body and lemon oil on the board Cheap and effective
 12. I had a MIK version and it was just fine - at least as good as the German made corvette that I owned

 16.
my clothing is static! PVC and leather stops me swinging around my bass on stage . The felt makes it frictionless. Its a godsend!
I think I fainted there ...
 17. Ok thanks I got a similar "clouding" effect from immersing chrome in a mixture of toilet duck, salt and diet coke - suspect the toilet duck was the active ingredient as some cleaner contain weak hydrochloric acid.
 18.
I bought a shiny bridge cover myself, lightly sanded the shine and then left it in a plastic tub with some battery acid for a couple of days and voila.....it's pretty convincing...unlike the rhubarb/custard pickguard, need a better pickguard!!!! - will have to see if The Bass Doc is still in business.
Can I ask where the acid came from ?
