1.
Hi Guys, I just wanted to say i really appreciate the understanding on this from a lot of you. I've worked really hard to get that shop up and running and as we've decided to compete with internet pricing and happily price-match it is a bit of a labour of love but as i'm a gear head i love it! I personally work in the shop 5 days a week but wanted to keep the shop open 7 days a week so inevitably i have to rely on staff to represent me when i'm not there. The member of staff in question got it wrong on this occasion and that has been addressed but i've also had many glowing reports back from other customers that he's super helpful and really couldn't have done more. He's not the most confident lad and probably a wee bit of shyness could easily be misinterpreted as rudeness but we're working on it with him. Do i believe he called it wrong with Phil on that particular day, yes which is why i'm on here personally apologising. I completely understand Phil not wanting to purchase through us as a result of a bad experience, i might have reacted the same, but from the other side of the fence it does show how tough it is to keep all customers happy in retail. I used to work for two other very large online guitar retailers, one of which Phil has mentioned and i know personally they don't always get it right either but i suppose if you are only using the online side you don't have human contact and this limits the chance of misunderstandings. Completely understand Phil, hope you get the bits you need and good luck with all the gigging. Carl
Well done, Carl
2.
There's one song on an early Red Rocks vid where the Edge plays the bass.
That is "40", traditionally the last song of a show - he also plays bass on it on the "war" album
3. Perhaps the OP should revisit anonymously and give them another chance, given Carl's apology and explanation
4.
Careful what you wish for, I said that yesterday as I got a bit of a scuff on my new TC RS112 the other day and said 'really I should get some covers'. My wife said 'Oh I will make you one' which is her normal answer - she makes hammocks for pets out of fleece, so I said, no thanks, I don't need a pink cupcake cover. Then later I went into the hall to get my stuff for the gig, and found this:
Good for dissuading light fingered folk Who would steal that ?
5. I have the yellow one and its faded to butterscotch brown quickly I'd choose sunburst if I had the choice again
6. I wouldn't - there is no coil tap I know for sure Would a cavity photo give you the answer?
7.
Saw them at Bristol Colston Hall in 1836. Great band (it wasn't Pino on bass but I cannot remember who it was)
Was he playing acoustic double bass ? I'm sure Leo hadn't invented electric bass at that point
8.
Might not be the most difficult bassline in the world, but New Years Day is a great one nonetheless. I think AC has the common sense to realise just how good both his
It's what made me pick up a bass, along with jamerson
9. I've got one It's very good indeed - the preamp has a wide range and fretting is good
10. True, and I do agree although I was only considering music and taste here
11. No, he's a bass player
12. an unimaginative or 'bad' bass player until he releases a solo album that showcases the full range of his skills.
He hasn't always helped himself mind, I remember an interview in Guitarist ( or possibly Bassist) in the 90s where he spoke about using sequencers and loopers on U2's most recent tours and essentially miming for large parts of the show. I have wondered if those comments are the fountainhead of a lot of the derision aimed in his direction.
I didn't know that part - you may be right
13. Good bass lines - I always had a thing about their female backing singer Edit: Katie humble https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_West_(Go_West_album)
14. I've been listening I've been listening to "bad" off a u2 live album today in my ongoing efforts to avoid idiots at work, he gets slagged a lot but he is good at mixing simple root notes with lyrical passages as it fits the need
15. On Mario super kart ? Pretty impressive paw work there
16.
Me too. Of course my Dad refuses to believe me as they are supposedly beyond human hearing! I can also comfortably hear the doggie tone at the end of Sgt Pepper. I just took the test - 17,181. I'm 34.
They are often variable / inaccurate and the lower end does seem to work better on cats - I hear them too
17. 13197 so not too bad I'm 46 and listen to a lot of headphone music at work due to idiot abundance levels
18. I only take two basses and a zoom pedal plus two leads so all in gig bag
19. I had one - 62 ri from 83 No router points, very tidy
20. If you can afford it why not keep it and pass to a family member to learn on?
21. Condolences as well, would say for someone in a difficult place and not being in the bass world you're doing better at listing for sale and answering questions well than many posters here
22. Always the precision, OM night audience love the battered look and the tone. Might give the Hohner a B2 a go next time just to shake it up.
23.
Was lucky enough to see them last February at a private 70th birthday party as a surprise for a friend of my Dad's. Apparently the birthday boy's wife paid just short of £300k for 45 mins. Worth every penny though. Bloody brilliant
Astonished - how much ?
24. Will you please stop tormenting me like this? Now I will have to sell some children to get one like that for myself
