1.
Thanks. Yes and no. It's a complicated point both in terms of physics AND patent law, and so not black and white by any stretch. In any case it doesn't matter. From a quick search you can see they ONLY have a US patent granted, so anyone anywhere else in the world can make it and not infringe, regardless of whether the patent is sound.
Not quite true, they can sue you for infringement and you'd have to defend yourself in a US court. Whether they can afford to take action, or would bother, is another question I did this for my dissertation in my law degree. Also US patents are famously lax in their view of prior art and also the kind of things that can be patented - see diamond v chakrabarty for instance
2. Mine was a Paul rose, and with thru stringing He warned me the string tension wouldn't be up to much, and was right
3. I had no issues at all with fanned frets so don't be put off
4. I tried a low b on a shortie and it was simply too floppy to use.
5. Nice It's like the p bass twin of my jazz
6. Bump - if this is over priced in your opinion then make me a sensible offer
7. It should calm down if you put ice on it. You could also try ibuprofen gel which has anti-inflammation benefits
8. Just a thought - try restringing with lighter strings (like 45-95) to reduce string tension- it will be make it easier to fret notes cleanly. Once you've cracked it, you can go back up to "normal" gauges
9. Try looking for finger stretching exercises on the net, and warm up with them It does take time and practice - How much is up to you
10. Generic high mass bridge which is a drop in replacement for fender basses. Comes with screws, but they were smaller than the OE screws so I reused the OE ones . £22.50 posted please
11. Ok thanks - lots of people have kicked the tyres just - beginning to suspect it has rabies or something
12. Anyone care to tell me if I'm asking too much here ?
13. I'd just say "lots of time spent playing along with the metronome", but the clapping idea above sounds interesting.
14. I used to have a fanned fret shortscale made by prosebass originally. It was teeny yet sounded immense due to the pickups in it, maybe fanned fret would help you ? Wasn't all that expensive
