1. Clean dish washing sponges work well and are very cheap
2. If only this had a maple board ....
3. I sold a bass to Hummion, he was polite, willing to trust and swift to pay in full. Would happily deal again.
4. Big reduction http://basschat.co.uk/topic/200328-fs-japan-75-reissue-jazz-with-us-pickups-in-natural-plus-rosewood-with-blocks-perfect-condition/#entry1985841
5. I used to own one of these and regret letting it go. Still at least I've stepped away from the dark side now
6. I recommend the ones made by bass chatter matte_black. Very quiet
7. You're not thick, from my perspective at least - I'd struggle with odd tunings too.
8. I recorded it and deleted it after 5 mins. Absolutely dreadful
9. Deeply jealous of all of you - toddler, teenager and disabled partner so lucky to get an hour a month
10.
I wouldn't be too fussed if I was told "thank you but no thanks" I think no response at all is just plain rude. Maybe I am just to.sensitive.
No, youre not, thats perfectly reasonable as a response.
11.
Thank you for the calming words. They picked the guy who was leaving as I got there for my try out, my guess is the decision was made before I played a note which annoys me a bit.
That happens in all walks of life. You just have to get used to it. The poster above is right, if they didnt tell you, befor ethey announced it on facebook, then they sound like complete dicks and youre probably better off without them.
12. I had a strat that had a mix of staggeered and not pickups. Not really a noticeable difference. In addition to the P vs J solution point, on a jazz bass you'd be tilting the pickups slightly to compensate for the string mass from low to high anyway so any disparity in volume on the middle two versus outer strings shoudl be negligible.
13.
Never had an problems from my wife with regard to gear, I've even pondered things and she has said "just get it if you want it" Having said that she knows I work hard, and am tight and wont throw money away on things I don't need or couldn't recover if needed
Yep, mine says "you work hard, why shouldnt you?" She knows I start selling things if I think its getting out of hand or if something isnt working for me. I dont buy new, ever, I dont have expensive tastes and I usually manage to find something I want on Ebay or here for reasonable money such that I can sell it for roughly the same as I paid. She likes Swarovski, and buys a lot on ebay rather than new, so she applies the same logic to herself (except that you collect that stuff). She doesnt spend loads on herself like clothes, makeup, hair etc, so I have no issue with it. Mutual tolerance.
