1. @Gs1000 Good - that you're near probably helped. Didnt help me : Jaco book took ages but that might be because our postman is both slow and dyslexic
2. For me it was listeing to a few specific track and realising just how powerful bass is. Andy Fraser on All Right Now John Taylor on anything Adam Clayton on New Years Day(on Under a blood red sky)
3. I had a quick read on the train (long delay due to suspect package left by some prat at sileby station helped)- up to where he hears of elvis dying and I felt I was standing right behind him for those events. When you next talk to him, Bluejay, please pass on my complements on a job well done. Not a bass-geek book but an interesting vignette into a life
4.
Answer should be "Yes, it's a bass guitar".
Sorry - I disagree . Different instrument played differently for different reasons giving a different sound in a different role.
5. Thanks to BlueJay for taking the time to pass this to me in Central London. I didnt help by being underground in the sea Life centre, and thsu out of mobile communciation, changing plans on the day, texting my location to someone else by mistake, and also stepping away from our table to check if the disabled toilet was free just as she was looking for me but she still found us. Thanks again I shouldnt be too long, who's next ?
6. This is now winging its way to GS1000 today via the tender care of Royal Mail . Hopefully a miracle will occur and it will reach him safely
7. I have a closest of marlowdk s jazz bass as my wallpaper, and I often bring my bass in (in a gig bag) when I have a lunchtime lesson. So they probably know. One did say "have you brought in a guitar?" Answer "no, it's a bass"
8. I learned both together and it went ok. I just bought a 12 string
9. Three notes is good enough - U2 did a good-enough version on rattle and hum using just D, C & Bb
10. Yes think so - read back. I'm waiting on mr gs1000 to get back to me

...

I would like this as I have a jazz just like it, pity it's sale not trade Free bump tho
12. Where are you ? I have a white indo VM p that I'd think of trading
13. I might consider bass trades plus cash, preferably collected or meet, but please keep it mainstream like MIM, CIJ etc
14. Up to a point - when I bought it she suggested I keep it as she could see the quality. However she also knows I don't want to make a loss on it and would rather wait till it can be sold for at least same money
15. I believe I'm meeting Ms BlueJay in London to collect this book- I think its sounding quite interesting, he seems to have put a lot of thought into his book.
16. i think youre all right in that you have a piece of the puzzle each. I do have some deeper issues here too, I think The US P is way better than I am right now. So is the Jazz,. One day I will get more time, I am assured. Partner wants me to hang on to the USP till after Xmas to see if the market is better,
17. I have a mint 2011 US P bass that I cant shift as its a slow market for higher end stuff. (its in classifieds) I'm toying with moving on instead my 1993 Jap jazz and Squier VMP and keeping the p bass although its much much better than I am. I rarely get time to play at home due to family commitments although I do know a singer songwriter who wants to jam when I get time. What would you do? COuld you justify keeping a £700+ mint instrument. ?
18. Think he was in a trebly phase - he seems to go through them from time to time before going back to "fat p bass" as now Listen to New Year's Day in "under a blood red sky" - totally different If I recall the snowy vid for New Year's Day correctly he played the same green jazz in it, filmed in Canada I believe
