1. I will now consider shipping this at cost - would prefer to take neck off and ship in square box
2. to answer questions: If I have to courier, note it weighs 4.4kg . I would prefer to remove the neck and pack the separate Parts in a big box rather than just a cardboard bass box.
3. Hi all Would like to sell this Ibanez SRX595 - its a 24 fret 5 string with a stunning flamed maple cap front and back. Volume, blend, treble cut/boot, bass cut/boost. No buckle rash as you can see. I just donbt have time to learn 5 string and use it properly so my jazz and pbass are getting my time. Would trade reluctantly, prefer to sell if at all possible I think this is probably worth £200 with postage at cost on top, but if you want to make a sensible offer (or less preferably ) have a bass to trade I'm always open and listening, in which case PM me? Prefer collection/meet/delivery within sensible radius for fuel for obvious reasons I live near j27 of M1 - Nottingham/mansfield pics: thanks for reading.
4. cards in music shops work, I would imagine. Thats how i found a teacher You could also get some cards printed (if you gig) because people might ask you after your set about taking up bass

6. Seems what I have is an indonesian made 2006 with the white faded to something like Olympic white, the pickups are marked "Duncan designed". The rw board came up well after a clean and lemon oil. Body has a couple of minor dings that have been carefully painted over. Pots are a bit crackly but I can sort that. Never thought I'd like p basses but this is really quite nice. No sharp fret ends.
7. ok - a mixed bag of responses there. Quality seems to be an issue.
8.
I've been wanting to get some of these for ages, still trying to convince the landlord to let me put them up. The joys of renting!
be careful, since they join to the walls, they belong to the landlord afterwards under current case law
9. Thanks That's very encouraging- I bought the black and white one for a good price. I guess if I don't get on with it (historically ive had jazz basses) I can always sell it on here
10. Does anyone have an opinion on them ? Don't see many in the For Sale section which is either very good or very bad
11. I found glass easier in the bad old days of playing thin wimpy strings. Brass was a bit clanky. Now go and beat yourself up for messing with the dark side
12. I tried a six string electric on Friday - it was a lovely, but cheap copy of a 62 tele costing only £149. Didn't have a pick so picked a few blues riffs and some bends. Compared to a bass It was just sh1t.
13. They're certainly different items to US models - whether they're better or not is subjective
14. The pickups on my jap jazz are very good indeed so perhaps yes. They seem to go for more money.
15. This Fender Japan pickup is for sale as the project I wanted to use it for has had to be shelved. Click for full sized image. I think its worth £25 plus P&P at cost - thats average for what such pickups have sold for in the past. . I am as ever open to considering reasonable offers so please do PM me if you think we can do a deal.
16. maybe someone on here has one - try the items wanted forum ? Mind you theres enough electronics buffs on here - they might be able to fx it.
17.
Legally, you went to his place, you tested it, you declared yourself happy when you paid. Game over. Caveat emptor.
Yes agree - if you got it posted you'd be in a different boat. You had the chance to inspect the goods and took it. Take it on the chin and accept help offered here to fix it.
18. This is listed on Ebay and will finish tonight. 180932149053 I will update the thread tomorrow.
19. i like the wood body and pale blocks look. Yes the plate fit is a bit wierd with its one inch gap at the bottom but a proper sized plate might fit. I'd say give it a shot.
20.
For example I've just watched one where the player talks through basic ways to practice a major scale, real beginners stuff, and then demonstrates it in the form of a fast solo passage. I would think this would confuse beginners? Am i right? Also demonstrating on 5 string basses without dots, does that hinder any of you?
In Tim Bogerts otherwise excellent RockBass for beginners DVD, he stupidly chooses a six string, I have been playing a while and I still need to think hard when looking at what he's doing. Scott Devine's lessons are good, but I cant understand why he wears those silly gloves, anyone know?
21. my little one has loved my jazz bass since she was tiny. I have photos of her plugging it in at about 1 year old. I figure it'll be cheaper for her to be into music than ponies.
