1. Thanks Howard - they were only 2.75 so mot expecting miracles
2. He's already building me a bass at the moment, but I scored a cheap pickup on eBay
3. This item : 140965627905
4. Well TBH I could only just afford the fender pup so I think I will see how it goes with the mex. it's off a classic 50s model and they're not cheap so it might be okay. Need some black pup covers though - anyone got spares ? I also won an aged white covered no-name 80s pup for 2.67 on eBay which might be worth a shot
5. ok, I'm done. Who's next ?
6. Ok thanks - my second question was more for the discerning fender fact heads What do they sound like ? I just won a mex classic 50s pup on eBay so wondering whether to use it or splash the extra for the after market fender "original"
7. These are around £80 from GAK. Anyone tried them or know what models they are fitted to ? Thanks
8. That's not mad, it's just that the cat matters to her more
9.
Right, here we go: As a bass player I'm sure you'll do it deeper.
My lovely partner has actually bought me a t shirt that says exactly that.
10. If I hadn't ordered a build from the bassdoc I'd be wanting this Free bump
11.
It may be a silly question, and I know the CIJ basses were made in Japan - but were the pickups US ones or made in Japan too?
They were made in japan, but to a similar spec to US ones. Even the bog standard jap ones fitted to 62 reissues are quite acceptable.
12. I recognise this. I was talking to the vendor about trading for my 62 reissue but he lived too far away
13. A squier is a licensed copy of a fender but made more cheaply abroad and with cheaper parts. They can be very good A rock bass might refer to a cheaper version of a Warwick made in china rather than Germany
14. City link have just been sold for a pound after 5 straight years of losses
15. I said this in response to neepheids point In law you have to have crossed the Ts if you want the judge to find in your favour, or be lucky
16.
I would think that UK Mail will see a large drop in people using them.
And deservedly so
17.
Parcelforce exclude instruments from insurance, but will happily sell you it. NEVER USE PARCELFORCE TO SEND INSTRUMENTS. Also, keep at them, harass them until they give in. Insurance wouldn't be necessary if they did their job right. They probably mis-sold you the insurance - did they ask you what was in the parcel? Small claims court? It isn't over unless you give up.
They didnt ask what was in it, but the terms and conditions are on the web site if you look hard enough. It's a 50:50 in court at best, you'd win if you got the right judge on the day. The law is clear here, Thompson v SMG railways The receipt you get refers you to t and c statement. If you don't read it, it's your fault. Year one law degree stuff.
18. Yep - always prefer meet / collect for this reason Ever since parcel force completely f£&ked my prose bass and wouldn't pay up
19. You need to look in the neck pocket The standard pickups are fine Copper shielding helps a lot too
20.
Just out of interest, what is the point of the covers? Everyone seems to take them off, it seems quite rare to see a jazz with both covers on unless its in a display case
In very early P basses, they were a functioning part of the RF shielding
21.
Another one who's still looking great at 60 is Pat Benatar. She can still belt out the songs too.
Am I thinking of someone else .. I thought she died a couple of years ago ?
