that is superb, exactly the kind of idea I was after! I've got some self adhesive foil, spot on!

It's GOT to have conductive glue though
I Had just this same bridge wire issue with a squier VMP - rock solid solution. Spray the copper wire out then stick it down with sticky foil
Regarding the bridge wire, I have some copper shielding foil with conductive glue - I just stuck
The earth wire to the body with it and then screwed the bridge on tight
Why don't you carefully remove the OE pots and put a Klogon loom on ?

Looks super... I wonder if it will have that 'smell'

My keyboard does now . Very nice bass
I had a German made corvette of similar vintage
The neck was very thin indeed - too thin for me but build quality was awesome
Things to look out for
1. Does the plug cut out the sound if you wiggle it (when plugged into an amp) ? Common problem but maplin sell a decent replacement part
2. Has the nut broken ?

These pickups were reported to be US Standard Issue. I saw an e-mail from Fender over on Talkbass confirming this. Don`t know if it`s something they have continued with though. What I do know is those basses sound great, so the pickups are doing a good job.

I did hear thy were used in custom shop basses at one point - punch above their weight anyway
Just saying / kept your eyes on eBay there are always pup bargains to be had

Yes thanks - the tiny scratches are quite well done by a scourer, and they are also good for aging plates. On the body I try and rub in the same direction that a limb would move over it to get it looking right
I'm working from home today so might get a moment to try the zoom to see what it can do in my break. The bdi is only 26 pounds on amazon new but it might come to that.
Thanks for the feedback
