1.
Hi - Just spotted this. I have this: http://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.co.uk/2011/04/aria-sb-505-and-little-bit-of-jaydee.html Played very little, had it from new - 5 string players say it's a cracker but I just can't get on with 5 strings!! This is the only five string I have, out of a mountain of four strings and it is in your budget. Whadaythink?? Cheers.
Hmm - will look it up for sPec . It is very pretty although I hate the pointy knob thing . Pm me a price to think about ? You are in east mids somewhere ?
2. Hi I hadn't thought of jd. Oh man ... Choice so much choice. NOw I just need to wait for my eBay auction to end to discover my actual budget Think I tried your double neck at the notts bass bash
3.
http://www.peavey.com/products/instruments/bassGuitars/millennium/index.cfm/item/114084/Millennium%28r%29%205%20%20TransBlack.html iv had one of these for a couple of years now, and apart from the tone knob falling off (dont ask xD) its a really good bass i sprongly recomend this for anyone wanting to by a 5 string and lets face it.... its a nice looking bass
Thanks Yes have heard about them in a for sale thread. People were raving about the active version.
4.
Send me an email to [email protected]. I have spec sheets on the Brubaker Brute Series 5 strings that might fit your budget. Many of the basses mentioned here so far would be great. If I were to recommend the OLP, it would be the OLP 5 Tony Levin model, which actually looks better then the normal OLP and are a little easier to play. Not sure why, but they are.
Ok done
5.
My GSR200 has a different neck to the SR300's i've tried, so an actual SR might be different to the GSR, cheapest is the 300/305 Liam
Thanks I will look that one up
6.
How about a used Spector Legend 5 Classic in Black Cherryburst? 16mm String Spacing, just under 45mm at the nut - the neck profile is (IMO) very similar to a Jazz neck profile, scale length is 35", active EMG's - plays really nicely! Certainly worth a thought! The one on the right! Only pic I've got at the moment - if you were mildly interested I could take some more and upload them...
Thanks - but as I said above I seem to struggle with 35"
7.
I'm in Leicester but I also work in Warwick
Quite interested - Nottingham side of Leicester ?
8. For the bartolini humbucker in a cort curbow 5? Thanks
9. I'd be worried about the fatigue thing as it sounds just like what happened to my partner, if it's what I think it is, I might have some advice to offer
10. Might be interested - was looking for a five string but hadn't thought of this. I'm at j28 m1
11. Ok fair enough - my auction doesn't end till next Sunday so I don't know exactly how much I have until it's been paid for and taxed by paypal and eBay
12. What's so wrong that you want to shift it after a week ?
13. Ok might want a look - the sunburst goodness is getting me but it may be too wide
14. Yes was talking to someone about an OLP but I just can't stand the horrible scratchplate
15.
I'm potentially in the same situation, about £250-£300...seriously considering a VMJ Squier - any reviews???
Yes lots on google- cheapest place I found is soundslive in newcastle
16.
In my (limited) experience of fivers, I feel that sometimes it's not about the neck size but more about the shape. I prefer Jazz necks in 4s, but can't get on with Ibanez SR 5 necks.
Yes tried one in music scene - sr 205 ? Didn't like it, which surprised me
17.
Hiya, I seem to recall from one of your earlier posts that the Pass of Caradhras is quite close to Derby ! I've got an Epiphone Embassy 5er with pickups upgraded to Kent Armstrongs. Maybe you'd like to have a look and play on it? It'll give you an idea at what a budget 5er is like, particularly a 34" scale with a wide-ish (but narrow front to back) neck and a hefty weight. Let me know.
Ok I found one on dr google _ where are you in derby ? Thanks for the suggestion
18. Reading on iPhone so can't see profiles - where are you if I wanted to look ? Thanks
19. Can you upload some pics ? Folks - what do you think of this item on evil bay ? 160763496451 Is it over priced ?
20. Apologies for the momentary hijack- do you find the 35" scale harder to stretch for ?
21. No, thought about it hard but the pliers thing put me off. Sorry. Thought about the VMJ five - the jazz deluxe is a bit wide.
22. Hi I'd like a low b five string, I will probably have to buy used to get best value. I have a jazz bass and a sting ray clone coupled with relaively short fingers and arms so don't want something with a massively wide board or with a hugely long neck. I don't gig and very occasionally play with others. It's got to be fairly flexible in sonic terms. Pretty wood is always nice as a bonus. Id prefer quality over flash. I've tried looking in the market place but it's like a sweet shop. I have at most £275. What can people recommend based on their own experience?
23. Had to relist to correct postage Item : 180842791688 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180842791688?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D180837317312%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_500wt_1219
24. I just noticed its 35" - that's too long for my hands sadly
25. "Won" on the premise that it was a Japanese p from 93, with only replaced tuners, knobs and bridge. If it had been what he said, it would have been an unmissable bargain badly timed to end at 8:41 am. As I said it was pretty soon clear that the body was not original rather than just badly photographed and I rejected the sale. My thanks again to silldx and all others who replied
