1. Precision bass. Maybe a jazz bass if you're listening to Verdine. As Samuel l Jackson said, "accept no substitute" , it's simple and it works. Mine is the best bass I've ever played anywhere, I keep trying to find a jazz bass that matches it
 2. The screens do seem to get tired after a couple of years (possibly just an iPad 1 issue) but ours has been pretty much fine, partner uses it all day for all sorts of things and it never misses a beat.
 3.
Doesn't all depend on if you read music or not? If you're simply looking to find the root note and play from the heart n' soul using "the box" for the major scale, then I guess you don't need the keys. What you would then need is the circle of 5ths to know where to go to when you want to go up/down a key.
Yes - worked for me. I only started learning them after I started using circle of fifths to learn major scales in all keys. I'm in Disneyland right now and in the "be our guest" restaurant there is some sheet music. I was chuffed to spot the key signature straight away. If you see four flats you just count round the flats cycle till you get to the one with four. There's only 12 possibilities so it's not that hard to learn
 4.
can't beat that colour combo, but it's needs a black guard
There's a typo there - you typed black but actually intended to type "tort"

 9.
Either works for me, but the scratchplate's the deciding factor: 60s style - Sunburst + Tort + Rosewood 70s style - Sunburst + Black + Maple I'd have both - flats on the Rosewood and rounds on the Maple.
Absolutely- I have just such a 70s style replica
