1. ok - I was offered it by a friend of a friend - i have only seen mobile photos. It looks straight and not battered, with a 60s/early 70s style headstock and dots. I dont have a lot of cash kicking around right now so cant afford to be choosy On another note, does anyone know what the correct type of sunburst and scratchplate colour /logo style for a 73 precision is ? I thnk black pickups are correct with non-reverse elephant tuners. thanks
2. Don't know sorry - its been rubbed out so lacquer work needed Thinking of building a p bass if I can justify it
3. One that might need a bit of tidying up laquer wise with no logo . General thoughts please
4.
Is there anything better than Tobacco Burst / Maple FB combination?!!
yes, if it has a large 70s style headstock, or blocks
5. Ok I'm done - who's next ? Pm me please
6.
Yep, it's going in a hard case, but I'm packing that inside delivery-quality packaging as well.
Read ParcelForce's website carefully - there is a specific point abut the hardcase forming part of the packaging - you have to take further steps if you want to be able to claim for damage to the hardcase. Have a look at the market place forum - theres a lengthy sticky thread about this on there http://basschat.co.uk/topic/156589-couriers-packing/- i posted the link there after my own bad experience.
7. Yes, good point.
8. Golden rule - read the couriers own site to see what rules they have. If you don't follow them they won't pay out . It happened to me; royal mail insist on a hard case for all instruments . If you don't do that they won't pay in event of damage
9. I have three, and they all do different things. I have a jap jazz bass that I just love the feel of and its sounds like a jazz should. I have a five string active ibanez with musicman pickups that sounds fat and is a five strig with a fairly narrow neck. I have an active Stingray copy that does the rock thing. It can sound a bit like an old precision but has a thinner and narrower neck I like the look of precisions, but I know I dont need one. I also know it wouldnt fit my hands. I dont buy any more basses because I dont need them.
10. I had a fanned feet shortie and it took about five minutes to get used to the spacing. The tiny frets were harder work but you just develop a lighter touch. Not sure I'd want a full scale fan but the string tension was better than a normal shortie
11. No lefty sent me his / apols for not updating the thread Who's next ?
12.
We already have it covered in the affiliates section. Anyone who has something to sell can post there. Maybe we need to rename it...?
I rarely, if ever, go there, so I dont think that suggestion serves me. Whats wrong with a trader wanting to shift something quickly at a bargainprice ? You can always ignore it if youre not looking.
13. I use "fret tester " which has four and five string bass modes. It's cheap and works well on the iPhone
14. Thanks for explaining that. I hadn't thought of the OP cross posting
15. Confused as I thought I'd replied to this ....
16. Can anyone recommend a fret memory, or notation app that's really good AND works well on the iPhone 4 Thanks
17. Thanks to Luke for graciously holding this for me, I found it new and posted for the same price from another source so will pass. Thanks again luke
18. I've been invited to do one of these (switching between six string and bass) but can't YET due to commitments. I had these ideas Gnr patience In the midnight hour (slower) With or without you Walking on the moon stupid girl
19. Big thumbs up for the grabby Hercules from me
20. Think alycytes was next, and me after him?
21. Who has it at the moment?
22. I wish I has even the time that space chick does - I have a disabled partner, a toddler and a mountain of DIY to do. I do online lessons whenever I can I will see take one tip from her though and see if there is an iPhone version of fret finder
23. I can't get rid of my sr16 as it was a present from My better half. IfI could do I would as it's a complete twat to program. You can't even associate a particular drum kit with a given song - you have to remember and switch it over manually
24.
We start first set with a Proud Mary/Think/Kiss medley, then 2nd set with All Right Now, seems to work well. Last wedding we did there was a circle around a couple having a Tina Turner dance off on the dance floor, and that was the first song!
that sounds cool - I'd like to be playing bass for that one.
25. I have the 62 reissue from 92 , bought from the late OldGit. It's quite simply brilliant - only minor issue was the noisy pickups but I put split coil humbuckers in series into it and they are simply stunning. I'd love a partner precision for it
