    I think my point was that the basses that I named aren’t really mediocre. They’re solid choices for many people and you can cover a wide range of sounds with three if you spend £1500 on one instrument you may not have enough for a decent spare and it may be a one-trick pony whatever desirable wood is holding the pickups near the strings

    If it were me with that cash, I’d buy one (used) squier classic vibe precision, one squier cv jazz and one five string id know I could move on whichever ones I didn’t like for the same money I paid out.
