  1. I have no idea, I’m just being thrown into the lions den next month and will have to wing it
  2. After many months of fruitless attendance at OM nights I went to two last week and ended up with three invitations to co-play at next months so I have to learn Dakota folsom prison blues she sells sanctuary I still haven’t found what … but in f# sharp dressed man i know it’s not likely to have troubled Jaco to learn these (or indeed 99% of you folks) but I’m time and talent-challenged so have my work cut out. lady who runs both nights is bass-curious and very taken with my acoustic bass @Len_derby as she is quite petite and found a full size bass attractive but also daunting. I have started her on her way learning “the chain” on it in the time honoured manner 👍
  3. It was actually Carole kaye. She did it all. With a pick - even the double bass stuff
  4. Yes it’s a pity you don’t live up here with “the wildlings” as my local OM is run by a professional singer who happily jumps in and supports fledgling singers where needed. She’s like the Julia hofer (thomann) of singers I'm trying to convert her into a bass player.. she’s definitely bass-curious so if B wasn’t taken as a persuasion ….
  5. Coaches can develop your range, I hear. I’m going to one tonight as it happens. I’ve got an acoustic bass now so do a quick run-through beforehand with guitards without needing an amp
  6. I think he is godlike. I sent him a request for an obscure tune and he did it. Very good PDFs and clear video. @ConstantineIsslamow
  7. Let’s see… she speaks almost perfect English, has good screen presence and can play bass way better than me … whilst riding a unicycle what’s not to like about that 🤔
  8. @Len_derby would this work for your charity ?
  9. I lived about two villages away. Mind you I was still wearing nappies and thus unlikely to trouble the mosh pit
  10. Lucky they didn’t task a guitard with it. It would mean first teaching one of them to read words but that’s five years well spent in my view
  11. I dream of playing that well..
  12. I always thought that was what 12/8 was. @Munurmunuh
  13. I had one. Awesome choice. AND it has a purple power light
  14. Duck played on tour. I’ve seen footage of him playing it on a sunburst p with gold plate in Norway
  15. That’s also what Steve Vai advocated
  16. Use an app with a bass mode, then you can do it whenever
  17. It isn’t when I fix my coffee machine, I like the fact that “I did that”. A neck that you made is a million times better than one that you buy.
  18. TBH I’ve never been more blissed out than the moment when I was totally immersed in playing “stand by me” with my bass teacher playing (i mean slumming it) on guitar. It’s all about the music.
  19. I hear Halley’s Comet is due …
  20. Oh my Scottish brother from another mother @neepheid , I really like playing Dakota and now you've nixed it. I guess I have to play it more so I will come to hate it as much as everyone else does. partial excuse : I’m playing with an acoustic guitarist who tells me that he previously thumb -hit the bass strings to get “the impact” of the bass notes in there. I’ve told him that he is too intelligent to be a guitard and has raised his game too far such that he may be lynched by his troglodyte peers.
  21. Well @Peter Popovic you get that hands-on pleasure 👎
  22. Can I recommend “don’t lose your head” by Inxs? Not eighth note fodder, Garry beers at his finest, very underrated player in my humble opinion
  23. Agree, despite being super-cheap the guy who bought my p bass asked what they were. He was in a different galaxy talent-wise compared to me and was very impressed. When I told him they were £14 cheapies from Amazon he thought I was pulling his chain. Absolutely loved them
  24. I’m actually looking for one
