1. This thread has caused me look up the price of separate insurance for my instruments unattended in the car . I'm guilty of leaving a fully loaded car in the overflow carpark at work for the whole day before rehearsal. this is unfortunately shared with a station :-S and outside the pub when we have a cheeky half post rehearsal. Nothing is ever on ever View i have a saloon and a bass plus amp fit securely in the boot, ( no access from the passenger compartment ) Insurance for two basses @ around 700 each plus my mark-bass eemed a very reasonable 3.60 a month , or 39 for the year .... Seemed pretty reasonable to me. This was Allianz Instrument Insurance .
2. I'm also a big fan of Jamareo Artis bruno's bass player , talented guy i think he's part of the writing process on a lot of these things and Bruno is one of those annoying talented multi instrumentalist guys , his dad's a professional percussionist and he's a pretty tidy drummer and guitar player himself. https://www.youtube....h?v=K8ivAsscK98 , about 50 seconds in once they have stopped pratting about Or pratting about at the superbowl ... 3. I suggest a pint / bass takeover of the Swan at some point , I was in chandlers Saturday dropping off a very broken Les paul for a work colleague ( headstock totally sheared off) I like the changes they have made by removing all the hanging guitars from the ceiling and floors making it much more open and usable . Very nice 70's mustang on the wall but Still no flats though .>.<
4. I have one of these that I drag out occasionally to stick under a Mark-bass cmd121p combo .. for those moments where I want to move a whole Lotta Air and it still fits in the boot of my 6 series . Well recommended cab for someone who wants an expansion or to dip there toes in to the separate head and amp cab game but doesn't want to spend loads of money.
5. I was about to say , just within striking distance of chandlers then " perhaps you can join me in my campaign to try and get them to stock more than just Rotosound swing 66's the last time i tried to get flats there i had to take a set that had been " traded" packaging was about 10-15 years old ... I get that they like " vintage" but damn .
6. B1on doesnt have a XLR DI out does it ? I use mine with a b3 as a volume / tone shaping pedal , stomp on for when we do a Jam track to give me that big up in front middy in the mix with a little distortion. saves a whole load of faffing to have 3-4 tones on tap.
7. Hello , from just up the road in Kingston. lyle
8. I have a modern tele bass from Status , Mines active which allows you to shape away some of that mud and give you much more usability Propper looker she is too ;-) bear in mind be careful some of the modern player Telebass'es were 32 " rather than 34" Scale
9. they do a non short scale SG bass , in both epiphone and gibson flavours Look for an Eb3 ;-)
10. It makes me want to take a can of seafoam green to my epi tbird , shame its too nice an instrument to suffer at my unskilled paws. Perhaps an ebay special karl , ive seen them go a low as £99 , i spy a doner right now in a facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/689090051102626/permalink/1167506796594280/?sale_post_id=1167506796594280
11. What about an audio interface for getting your bass into your PC ? and using virtual amps and such on your Pc / mobile device for home recording / practice use https://www.amazon.c...191519&sr=1-14c or this for more pc inclined https://www.amazon.co.uk/PreSonus-Audiobox-iOne-Presonus-Interface/dp/B00KBMAJU8/ref=sr_1_12?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1464192091&sr=1-12 pretty much exactly at your price level.
12. Karl , is this what your looking for more Photo's here https://reverb.com/price-guide/guide/500-gibson-thunderbird-ii-1964-inverness-green
13. You've misspelled hell there rob , there's no U in it .
14. Just the right age , were both 30 and our singers 25 , A female fronted covers band , playing the local area and about as far out as Egham , We rehearse out of a studios in Ashford which is 3 stops away from Twickenham, they Do kit hire if he hasn't got access to his own , We have gigs in the pipeline which were now worried we cant honour ` but will probably end up being delayed ' Ask if he's interested in a chat and fire me a pm we could arrange a beverage or call. Lyle
15. How old is he , we just lost our drummer today :'(
16. Fair few of us in Kingston / Twickenham Really aught to organise a drink up . I'm born and bred in Twickenham ( Isleworth really, the nasty bit near the sewage works ;-) I've moved to Kingston now. Its a pretty good place for live music , the eel Pie / patch provide the bulk of it , its a well known quiet-ish overflow area of Richmond Very popular with early 30 something's who want to be near London but not "in London" . I think it depends on your age when I was 18 it was a bit too quiet, I headed into to Camden for my night-life , Kingston is 15 mins on the bus If your looking for nightclubs / bars after for 12 you will need to go to Kingston or into London "proper" about 15 mins on the train. If your just turning 30 and a bit over the club scene, So looking for great pubs , bars and live music its pretty good. Sadly Twickenham lost is only music shop a few years back , so once again new strings its a trip to Kingston . I keep meaning to try the jam night in The Oak , but last time i was in there the beer selection was Carling or Stella and the live band was playing brass in pocket slightly off key , Far too loud for the 6 or 7 folk in there so I walked on to the boaters .
17. Lets hope its a stonker when you have finished doing it up , did you manage to test the electronics ?
18. I've recently got my status back from Rob who was fixing a problem with the active circuit , he was able to tell me exactly what my bass was born to use, Those happen to be status hot wire Half wounds in 45-105. May I suggest a quick call to status with your serial number might allow you to quickly order a set .
19. So spill how much was it did you get absolute bargain due to it being " nut-less" , * bom bom tish. * ill get me coat* It looks really interesting I'd suggest you might suffer the same issues I do with my telebass ... without the Pick-ups there's Nowhere to rest your thumb. I'm so accustomed to resting my thumb on the Pu cover on my J that whilst i play floating for the top 3 the E string that it feels very empty indeed.
20. I just think the Boss bass effects are little long in the tooth these days , released in 2008 , at least the zoom b3 was released this decade , I cant say that i've used one but i do love my B3
21. Shoot any trades considered ? My other half would kill me , I've just got my status back ..... and there are currently 2 basses over the 3 bass limit but I'm pretty sure that is my exact first bass guitar >.< Cue early mugshot .... circa 1995-96 ish ..... god I was a Scowly so and so back then
22. I bought one of these new a few weeks ago .... The Piezo seems to be part snake .... I asked one of the guys at work, who has experience running PA systems from a former life of being the sound and light guy for a touring act. He Suggested if I didn't want to disconnect the tweeter ... thus void my warranty a baffle will do wonders for killing hiss , but not the bass sound. Test it by placing your hand over the tweeter on the grill ... If the hiss is drastically reduced ( which mine was ) . Buy some Foam and cut it to cover the region of the tweeter, attach this inside the speaker grill' back with duct or double sided tape . I bought this and cut then taped .... it to fit http://www.amazon.co...6&keywords=foam Hiss = tamed Now if only i could silence that fan ...
23. Hot tip for anyone who can get to Guildford , Andertons I decided to leave it and bought a CMD121P Markbass combo instead .... it was more money but i just got on with the tone better. There's a Rumble 500 head and the matching 15 cab that I was looking at today, Somone has traded it in but the condition is immaculate, it includes cable , covers bag for the head etc and warranty for £349 , I'm pretty sure thats a bargain right ? Here's the advert http://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-cabs/pid45242/cid686/second-hand-fender-rumble-stack-500-head-38-115-cab.asp
24. Oh , i didn't say I wasn't keen on a combo , Just not excluding separates from suggestion of looking at when i'm at the store.
25. A bit of background as this has spilled over from another thread * on the Rumble 500 here http://basschat.co.u...e-500-v3-combo/ Friday I've got the day off to head to the nearest good sized amp stockist to try out some gear, I ran out of volume on my Trace Gear over the Easter weekend . The summary of my issue is pretty much this Over the Easter bank holiday weekend I played a gig at a social club beer festival and ran out of volume from my Trace 715 GP7 SMC I've never before had to dime the pre-amp gain to squeeze a little more out of the amp just to compete on stage. The performance space was tiny so there was physically no way to accommodate my expansion cab , Usually the trace is enough on its own for this sort of pub / club gig, but apparently the only songs where I could be heard were Chelsea dagger * tubescreamer* boosting me and on uptown funk where its just me for large periods of song. Our , Guitarists were running at about 6 /10 master on 100 watt fender SS gear , which we had raised , you couldn't hear even hear the drummer . So help me shop guys, what should I try out , I'm looking around the 500 watts mark, and want to try the Rumble, I'm not wed to the idea of a combo, just coming from trace land I've become accustomed to it. Looking to spend 400-500 tops on a new amp and if it can nail the trace tone it gets bonus points. What I can try at Andertons , what should i ask them to get in from the warehouse as most of the big bass kit isn't in the tiny bass room.
