Gents. Just been looking at the LD Systems MEI1000 series vs the MEI100 series. Seems the more expensive 1000 series has better frequency response (60Hz opposed to the 100's 80Hz) and adjustable erm other stuff. Worth the extra dollar? Re the buds, in the short term, if the stock ones are REAL tosh, I'd probably use Shure E2cs until I get some better. Good idea? T
Hi tony.... the CN's use Neo drivers.
Quite right. Sorry Chris, thanks for the correction. Bit of brain fade there. Dunno why I said that. <HIDES UNDER DESK AND DRIBBLES>
The Berg CN212 weighs 46lbs. That's pretty close to 1 DB112. The CN212 is a 2 handed lift, and is easy to move around, but the DB pulls your arm out of it's socket. I think they both sound fantastic, but the DB's weight and carry is a deal breaker as far as I'm concerned. If you're in this ballpark I'd also suggest looking at a used Barefaced 212 (40lbs) or the new Super Compact (23lbs) and Big Baby 2 (26lbs).
I used EBS cabs for years (Proline 410's) but finally invested in a Berg CN212 when they first came out after trying one at Bass Direct. I was unconvinced that ANYTHING lightweight would come near the performance and sound of the Proline. I so loved that cab that anything replacing it was almost an emotional rather than technical decision to move to something else. The Berg though has been just amazing. Hits the spots on the output, tone and weight. As others have pointed out, because it's vertical construction makes it really easy to move about and there's so little weight in it[s], despite it using ceramic drivers[/s] (*neo drivers - corrected by chris_b ) You're welcome to come fly up the M5 and M42 and try mine out. Cheers T

Having just splurged out on a new 5 string TRB, the household agreed "one in one out" rule dictates that my Overwater/Tanglewood Classic 4 is for sale. Not an easy choice as it's such a great bass but I've already got one Jazz so unfortunately this is the bass to go. The previous owner(s) have subjected it to some really tasty upgrades which have made a great bass even greater. The bridge has been replaced by a Badass II in chrome. Solid as a solid thing, a real quality bridge. The OW pickups have been replaced by Bartoini PJs and the original V/V/T passive controls have been replaced by a East J-Retro preamp giving a whole load of tonal flexibility. Love this preamp with the Barts, it's such a great combination. There's a couple of minor scratches on the body but nothing serious. It's also previously had a Hipshot D-Tuner installed but this has been removed leaving a couple of small locating holes. I can include this if required. Photos: https://www.icloud.c...#A2JtdOXmGKDfOI It's a whole lotta bass for not a lot of money so grab it quick. Looking for [s]£300[/s] SOLD. PM me if there's any questions. Cheers T

SOLD *******Lakland Skyline Joe Osborn 4 String
These are fantastic basses...I recently traded my Lakland 55-64 for one of these, Dudeput Forest Green Ltd Edition version. It was supposed to be an 'in-transit' bass, and I was planning on selling it on, but since I got it, it's practically became my main 'go to' bass. Love it. GLWTS.
+1 I've got the same Dudepit Ltd Edition and it's a magnificent bass. Bump for a top instrument. -
Ummmm. Interesting. We've been discussing the merits of IEM for a while for our six-piece soul/funk/R&B wedding/functions band. However, I've yet to convince the others in the band of the merits of IEM in relation to the investment we'd need to make to do it properly. Having spoken to Russ (EBS_Freak) at length and followed the recent posting on IEM, it's a serious step both in terms of investment and mindset shift. All that said, if you buy some, I'd be interested in hearing how they pan out.

I've been using Set List Maker for the iPad for a few months now after dabbling around with other (and combinations of) apps. It's absolutely brilliant IMHO. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/set-list-maker/id410496349?mt=8

Whilst buying a couple of other things quite successfully from local sellers, I've had a recent quite negative experience on Gumtree that was eventually resolved but left quite a bitter taste in my mouth. Brought an MXR pedal off a guy that took the best part of three weeks to arrive (there was ALWAYS an excuse why he couldn't go down to the post office and get it sent) and then only after I'd threatened to send in the cavalry. Throughout the process, there was an awful feeling that I'd have really could have done with the "safety" (and I use that term loosely) that eBay/PayPal offers. The upside is that once flagged to Gumtree, they did seem very concerned with making sure that the seller's account was temporarily disabled and they were also prepared to action the issue as online fraud and call the law in as part of a formal process. Thankfully, in this instance, it all panned out. Like others have mentioned, if you're not ABSOLUTELY sure, don't.

From what I can recall from my days of owning a Trace head, there's securing screws on the sleeve. Look for the plastic plugs on the side, pop them out and there's screws underneath that then locate through the wooden sleeve into the side of the head. Once they're out, the head will slide out. I think there's "standard" rack ear location points on the side. From what I can recall, they're available from Trace (if they still hold stock). TBH, can't see them not having them. HTH

I've a LOT of time for Bruno and his band. As Crez says, an awesome entertainer with musicians at the top of their game.

This is fantastic Alan. I'm really loving watching this as it gives a great insight into how a top quality hand finished instrument is produced. Think I'm off into the shed at the weekend.....
If you're not using amp modelling I would HIGHLY recommend the Line 6 M13. I have owned it twice, the only reason I got rid of it was the band I used it in a lot stopped playing but if it ever started up again I would definitely get another one.
This! The M13/M9 are great tools if you're looking to model stompboxes rather than do the whole amp modelling thing. I've used my M13 for a couple of years (just swapped it out for an M9 because I needed a bit more space on my board) and have found it to be indispensable in a live environment. The fact that you can tweak on the fly like any other individual pedal is so brilliant. This, added to the looper, the fact that it sounds really good AND has true bypass makes for a really flexible package.

Having boiled mine as well over the years, TBH, i think removing them from the bass and releasing the tension has more of an effect than the boiling process itself. Yeah, it releases the gunk but hey, how much gunk can there be? All IMHO.

Just tried it. Flip me, works brilliantly. Whether or not they'll have that much longer on this mortal coil, no idea, but a great way to temporarily revive a set of dead strings.
