Mate you've got some very expensive kit for your age! Care to share details of the next heist?
also is the maple fretboard nicer/better than rosewood, or is this merely an aesthetic preference? I've also heard that the QC has been improved in recent years.
There's meant to be a brighter sound from a maple fretboard although I personally haven't noticed it much. As for aesthetics I prefer the look of a maple board on a jazz bass, especially with a sunburst body.

Finished. Went for £275.

Just bumping this, there has been quite a lot of interest.

I've got slinkys on mine. I think they sound great but I don't think the life lasts long.
Admittedly i haven't, but i've never been enthralled with any jazz i've ever tried (mexican jazzes, VM squier jazzes, reggie hamilton jazzes, the jazz bass 24), and i just can't see how a USA jazz can be such a significant improvement on any of them so as to warrant such a high price. To me a passive jazz bass is a passive jazz bass, and honestly, after my brief stint with my reggie, if i wanted one, i'd buy a squier. Fair enough if you like the sound or the feel of the things, but i just don't think that a USA jazz is 4 times better than a squier vintage mod.
I tried a MIA at GAK back in December, was on my 21rst birthday, had gone over to Brighton to do a pub crawl etc & stopped off there beforehand. Was a bit light headed when I tried it lol but I was pleasantly surprised by it, it was everything I had hoped it would be. I went back a few days later & played it again, it sounded even better sober lol so after going away & thinking about it for a bit I went back & bought it. Fender does seem to get knocked a lot, I'm well aware that they do make the occasional dudd but owning my MIA jazz & having owned a MIM before that for 5 years I've had nothing but good experience with them. With an older Squier I'd deff say they are at least 4 times better (in my experience anyway) but I haven't tried the new VMJ's etc that everyone is giving such good reviews. Anyway back on topic...
Ah yes, a basschat classic. Here's my current favourite of his: http://cgi.ebay.com/1956-GIBSON-LES-PAUL-J...A1%7C240%3A1318
I don't get why he does it, browsing recent pages of his feedback shows no one is stupid enough to pay what he's asking & yet he still lists these things. I understand about raising price expectations but it must be costing him money to constantly list the items.
I don't just mean vintage ones, i mean brand new ones, to me a brand new USA jazz is just another passive jazz bass like the rest....
Have you tried one?

That's cheered me up! I doubt he's doing himself any favours though!

Guys this is my old Mexican jazz bass that I sold to the guitarist in my band back in December...
It is a lovely example of a Mexican Fender with a nice, full sound & a very smooth neck.
Couldn't you have described this bass in your own words? Unless it's pure coincidence that it's the same wording as my Ebay auction.
