Oh, f_ck, we're starting this one again...
I'm off, sorry.
Never play with a pick, same reason as Ste, bad cramps after about 10 minutes or so.
Although you say it has to be 34" i would say it might be worth looking at a 35" Lakland 55-01.
I played a Lakland 55-02 in GAK a few months back, the only thing holding me back was the scale though. I've got quite small hands so hence not considering over 34".
I've come to the conclusion now that my 2003 Thumb 5 is definitely going to have to go due to the problems with my wrists. It's not getting better & the chunky neck just means it flares up a lot quicker. So looks like it will be out of here. Which will leave me wanting a replacement 5 for it.
I'd like to spend around £500 SECOND HAND, ie. I'd like as much as poss for my money! I would be willing to up the amount if something really caught my eye though.
Not many requirements: just that it's a 34" scale, not a wide or chunky neck & that shape wise it's nothing wacky!
As for possible ideas so far....
Spector: with help from Cetera I've found out that pretty much any Spector 5 string made before 1999 is a 34" scale
Ibanez
Yamaha
Warwick: older models, before the chunkiness came along, I appreciate I'd have to up my budget for this though.
So impress me guys!
EDIT: oops didn't make it too clear! Question is what might you recommend!!
Cheers
Joe
Welcome to England mate!
If you're looking for a cheap bass to keep you occupied while you are here then how about this?

Hey Zach you might be better going through Ebay on this one, I put mine on here for £150 months ago & it got no interest, then put it on Ebay for £150 reserve & it went for about £220.
Good luck, it's a lovely bass.
EDIT: didn't you PM me regarding this a few months ago?
That's a lovely looking bass! & from reading the advert a lot of thought & research has gone in to it's construction. Good luck with the sale mate. If I had a wad lying around I would certainly consider it!!
I'm also of the opinion that EBMM basses (even the SUBs) are of much higher build quality than any fender
Having recently bought a 2008 MIA jazz I have to disagree with this statement.
Russty as others have suggested if you decide to go down the 'Ray route then go with a second hand EBMM. These have been going for stupid prices in recent months so for about your budget you could get a hell of a lot of bass.
