1. About time!! Can't believe how long its taken to sell this beauty! Congrats.
2.
Good luck then man, with Warwicks current value you'd be lucky to get £700. Great bass though.
Cheers. Hope to get a decent price for it, about time Warwicks went up a bit!
Are you sure that the wrist pain isn't caused by holding the neck up? My NT5 goes into a terrific nose dive first chance it gets, and it used to give me terrible grief in my left wrist.
Have been sitting down a lot playing it & holding the neck up more to minimise the wrist bending, however this hasn't really helped. I've got stubby fingers so I think the combination of this & the thick neck is what is causing the problem.
I didnt mention figures; I neither implied that your price was high nor low, just that I remember you contributing to a thread where the price of these basses was being discussed and therefore I know you have a good understanding of what is achievable at the moment. Sorry if I touched a nerve though.
Alright mate well I got the feeling you were implying the price is high & that I know it due to the comment I made in that previous thread.
3.
I remember you contributing to a thread a little while ago about the current value of Thumb BO 5’s…
Notice the words I'd like & negotiable plus the fact that this is a feeler, I'll admit I wouldn't quite be willing to part with it for what some Warwicks seem to fetch at present but it's simple logic to start higher & then come down isn't it. Thanks for the constructive comment though Ben!
4. Depends how much the bass is worth (sentimentally as well) I did it to my cheap Vintage bass, followed the exact same guide above. I filled the fret grooves in with wood filler instead though as was easier & my bass teacher at the time had done this successfully to one of his basses. Put some flats on it & away I went!
5. Hey mate Would like around £800 for it, price negotiable though!
6. Heya guys this is a feeler for my Thumb bass. Just a bit in to why I want to sell it... Since picking up the bass guitar again back in May or so I've only really been playing for say 20 mins max at a time. However I recently joined a band about a month ago so have been playing for longer periods of time at practices etc. Everytime I take the Thumb along I find after about 30 minutes of playing I get pains in my left wrist which also then sometimes spread up to my fingers, I damaged my wrists in a weight lifting accident in 2006 so I think it's the C shape profile of the neck which is causing it to flair up. I really don't want to own a bass that will merely be played for a few minutes every now & again before being set down again so therefore I'm considering selling it. It's a 2003 BO model, MEC pick ups, 2 band EQ. However I have upgraded the nut from the Just A Nut 2 to the JAN 3. There is a small bit of fret wear, other than that it is all in working order. Great feel, great sound, another great Warwick instrument I was planning to fit a 3 band EQ that I got off another member so could also throw that in if needs be. Only have one photo at the moment, the bass is fitted with Black Beauty strings. Behold the awesome picture quality of the LG Viewty Sorry about the quality, will upload some more, hopefully sharper ones later. Don't have too much of a price in mind so PM me if you're interested. Cheers Joe
7. Nicest looking Jap Fender I've seen! Couldn't find it Ishibashi though.
8. Asked him what the bass was before the Fender decal was put on. Got this reply... "hi the bass as allways been a fende as i was told" Clever how he isn't putting his foot in at all.
9.
Absolutely all parts are original, although I believe its been re-fretted, and it was originally salmon pink, it was refinished in the 70's/80's sometime by a qualified professional who finished the body to Fender spec original sunburst which looks stunning, despite the wear it now bears. The neck wasn't touched, and is beautiful. It would be great to work out a value for it, although he's turned down numerous offers of £1000's
With both a refinish & a re-fret would it even be worth close to the £2000 mark?
10. Followed the advice on www.musicman.com that said loosen it if it's buzzing all over the fretboard. I played around with the A saddle though & it seems to have fixed it now. Also loosening it off got rid of some buzzing around the 3rd fret etc on the E string, although the bass doesn't feel as nice to slap now.
11. Finger "grease" on the fretboard, did he mean tar? That's sick!
12. Whoops thread seems to have doubled, could a mod kindly delete the other? Okay thanks will try that, pushed the thought aside as spent a while playing around with the saddles to get the ideal heights, although that was more than a month ago now thinking about it.
13. Hey guys having a problem adjusting the truss rod on my stingray 5. It`s been buzzing around the 12th to 22nd fret, mainly on the a A string. Been loosening the truss rod but the difference is barely noticeable. Any suggestions as I wanna get it fixed? Thanks! Done this on the mobile so don`t know if will come out alright lol.
14. Lol why do people bother doing this! Anyone spotted the £19k Strat lol. Warn with non original parts again lol. Wonder what he does with the strings as well, missing on most of the items.
15. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...52BSI%26otn%3D4 Anyone ever noticed this guy on Ebay? Normally has a large collection of vintage items, always few photos, always taken with something like a sheet underneath the item & a camera angle from the bottom end of the instrument up. As you can see from the listing above he charges huge prices for non originals. Eg that Fender has had a refinish & various parts changed!! £4250!
16. Hold on to it mate, I'm considering selling mine again due to some problems Will hold on to it either way though as Warwicks overall seem to be unpopular at the moment. Saw one on ebay recently that didn't shift for £600 (5 string BO)
17. I've got black beauties on my Thumb, decent sound & look really good with the black hardware, bit pricey though so probably wouldn't bother again. As for my Stingray I've got Slinkys, which sound a lot better & also feel a lot better to play.
18. Lol that's pretty cool that your other half plays! I've tried encouraging mine to have a go, but she hasn't been too interested. Good luck with the sale, can't fault an Ibanez piece of kit.
19. 3 to go for me from here! Another achievement to my name!! .........
20.
I am trying to find a Musicman between £500 and £600. I have been told that a few have been grabbed for these prices, even one for £499. Still, I am struggling to find one at this price and they all seem to be selling at around £680 to £800. So not sure if prices are dropping that much just yet, I think you just need to be lucky at the moment.
They were going for about £500 to £600 a few weeks ago mate, maybe they are on the up again for now! I picked my Stingray 5 up very cheap back in August.

SOLD

Beautiful! Good luck with the sale mate.
22.
Nobody has really given any feedback on a standard Fender Jazz? Is this because they are crap and not worth the money? Are they made in Mexico? Just wondering why nobody has made any comments about them but have said the Squire is awsome.
Yeah the standards are made in Mexico. I've got a Mexican jazz that I've always been happy with, however I tried a few before I bought it & the quality did seem to vary. I'm sure other basschatters will back up that Fender seem to make the odd runt, especially from the Mexican lines.
23.
Huh, I've had the same set of Swing Bass 66 on my Fender since i got it, and then the guy I bought it off had them on for the last year or 2, so mine are dead as anything, and I still like the sound. Guess I just got lucky then. Zach
New strings are going to seem well weird when you eventually change them!
