joe_bass replied to pete.young's topic in Completed Items
PM'd regarding this (with respect if the above bass chatters don't want it) I wish I had the skills for this job, however I don't, luckily my dad does though lol. -
I touched a raw nerve when i asked if she would mind posting her response to my question about the bass "So you would appreciate me posting the fact that IN YOUR OPINION the bass is not a Fender. This wouldn't be so you can bid on it and get it at a fraction of it's worth would it? I have described the bass as accurately as possible and included large close up pictures so that those interested in it can bid what it is worth to them. My son bought it about 20 years ago in its present condition for about £500 but never got it restored. I trust this answers your questions" It didn't actually answer my question as it happens, as I never said it wasn't a Fender but I guess the fact that it was pulled did answer a few questions!
Lol the needless abrupt/aggressive mentality here would alone have confirmed it as dodgy to me. I wonder if this piece of sh!t will resurface within the next few days/weeks.

Got less & less nervous as the gigs went by. Then when I was at college the nerves completely dissappeared. Now after a 3 year break the whole process has started again.

Hmm, Squire for Mexican money
joe_bass replied to yorks5stringer's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
"This Squire Bass is in my opinion as good as any USA made Precision " ....& is therefore priced accordingly. "it has been professionally set up and plays very well" Ah that explains it then -
I was gonna ask her for some serial numbers lol.
That's precisely why I have no sympathy for any idiots who might be placing genuine bids on this - I have no duty to protect greedy & ignorant opportunists from themselves. Yes - let them learn the hard way.
+1 on this. The description etc is clearly trying to create a picture of some one wanting to get rid of some thing no longer used that they know nothing about, resulting in people jumping in ready to take advantage.

"my son said he bought it off some guy he met on his travels in America, said his name was Jaco P?" Clever advert, I guess there are several idiots bidding thinking "OMG this woman should have done her research, I'm gonna pick up a vintage Fender for a fraction of the cost, idiot!!"
you'll have to decide on a price mate, or you'll have limited interest. how much did you pay for it?
That's a good point Kev. I paid about £800 for it including shipping etc. Not interested in trying to make a profit. I'd ideally like say £750 for it.
Rule of thumb: Any second chance offer is a fraud, and so is anything involving Western Union. What more do you need to know?
+1 on Western Union Never complete a transaction outside of Ebay. -

Sorry guys was a bit misleading when I said theres paint off the bridge, its just off the screws on the saddles.
Hmmm, even £650 might be a bit full, I've seen them go for £450 on Ebay. I think they're intrinsically worth more than they're making at the moment, so I'd be inclined to hang onto it if you can.
Ouch

Hey guys I've recently acquired a thumb bass, however tbh I'm not too sure if it is the bass for me. After a good session on my MIM jazz bass last night it got me thinking if I should have held on to my cash & upgraded the jazz instead. So here for now is just a feeler for this Warwick... It's a 2003 BO Thumb 5 string. Ovangkol neck & body, 2 band EQ, 24 brass frets etc etc. However if I do sell it it will go with a Just A Nut 3 instead of JAN2. The bass is in good condition with only a couple of small dings, it could benefit from a decent set up though. There is some fret wear (if marks on the frets count?) the MEC logos on the pickups have rubbed off a bit & a little bit of paint has come off the bridge. Therefore guys I was also just wondering if anyone would be willing to give an approx value for this bass as I do not want to slap a price tag on it parallell to a completely clean example. I bought this bass having been told it was in "near mint condition." Near mint condition - No Good condition? Yes. So help with pricing etc would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Joe

Just had a look, your right!! That's insane!! The sparkle finish looks crap imo, it's not a finish that I would personally associate with a bass from that era either so I don't think I would quite be feeling the vintage vibe. Would be beautiful in black or sunburst.

Any idea what material you want to replace with?

Declared at a much lower price??
