*Mods, please kick this wherever it is deemed appropriate also, I'm sooo sooo sorry, i cant figure out/remember how to do the Photo thing from Flickr links :'( it's been a while! * Dear Everyone, First off, Hey! It's been a while! So, having completely given up on music for many years I felt compelled to see if my sign-in still works and guess what, it does! Long story will be available for anyone who remembers me, is still active, and cares, but the short is, I sold all 13 of my rack and was left with 1 to fund a major change in life direction...which it turns out failed. But I did manage to meet the woman who (don't tell her this...) makes me very, very happy. So it ain't all bad. Now, I'm looking to reconnect with one of my old quiver. https://www.flickr.com/photos/25009441@N04/3651968338/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/25009441@N04/3651967672/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/25009441@N04/3651969910/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/25009441@N04/3651970502/ serial (taken from above zoomed image) (E?) (*)29(8)7 It had a JE preamp installed will active/passive switching and all the gubbins, and from memory I p/xed her for the Sandberg below. (original sellers pics)...for a band which split cos the drummer, well, he wasn't humanity's most positive influence but that's another story. https://www.flickr.com/photos/25009441@N04/3684425864/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/25009441@N04/3684427476/in/photostream/ I've now got a Overwater Progress 3 Deluxe as my last axe, and I'm kinda considering trading back for the above MM, as if I'm gonna have one bass it might as well be the one bass I miss dearly Any help in reconnecting me with her will be rewarded in good Karma and my eternal love and servitude. Phil

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I have your attention please; I quit the finest musical persuit a while back, and now it's time to move house I have unearthed all the stuff I couldn't bare to part with back then but now I have no need for any of it I would very much like someone else to have it and make use of it. "It" comprises of (amongst other things): Victor Wooten Super Bass Solo Technique DVD John Entwistle Bass Guitar Master Class DVD Peterson Strobostomp 2 tuner One of Dave Hall's beautiful DHA blenders (with all the blood splatterings) EBS BassIQ pedal Cables (various) Strings A microphone Music Theory books Small metal flightcase (10"x2"x20" ish) EB-O replica body Led Zep anthology Beatles anthology Bass Bible 2 etc etc etc etc.... you get the idea, I really REALLY can't be arsed to itemize and sell it, as I'm on a bit of a time limit but so yeah, free to whoever is quickest outta the gate. I know theres some value to some of the bits, so if you feel like passing on my charitable spirit please donate whatever you feel the joblot is worth to either: Air Ambulance Cancer Research SERV RNLI Basschat The stuff is located in Newbury, Berkshire, and unfortunately I can't meet anyone halfway as my only mode of transport is a motorbike....and all that gear isn't conducive to a stable journey! Thank you for reading this far, please get in touch if you're interested!
The model of preamp is an MMSR-XCC 4 knob 3 band. It has volume, bass, treble, and a concentric knob with mid boost and a mid frequency sweep.
And the active/passive switch should change that to a 2-band passive preamp (bass/treble) from memory! *bump*
You might want to read about my own experiences trying to order strings from Overwater and why i wont order anything from them again http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;hl=overwater
ouch...not the best coupla threads to have floating around! sorry buzz, corrected -
I've found the videos from a gig I played at the Clapham Grand a few years ago...not the greatest, not the tightest, but hell it brings back memories! I've also got the goddamn same hairline....sorry for any cranial lens flares! We had a stupidly early timeslot, and couldn't drag many fans up...hence the very hidden crowd! Some of you might enjoy 'em

So, current count being [s]Guy Pratt "my bass and other animals" paperback book[/s] [s]Guy Pratt "mb&oa" hardback[/s] [s]Jaco autobiography with cd paperback [/s] [s]5x guitar wallhangers without screws: 3 of one sort and two other randoms: none have any screws with them, but they all work.[/s] [s]Bag of 4x jumbo fender-style open backed tuners with screws.[/s] [s]Two small strap buttons (standard, same age as the tuners) with screws.[/s] [s]Rectangle, 6hole neck plate with screws.[/s] [s]Custom wired Kent Armstrong pup, two jazz pups wired together to fit in an earless mmStingray route. Coconut wood cover, would look the mutts nuts in a natural darkwook custom build/frankenbass.[/s] Anything else i find will be added to this list...I'd rather it all go as a "bundle of stuff" but I will separate somewhat shout me up if you want pics phil
As a lifelong biker I really would NOT recommend bungeeing a Midget to the back of a bike! Too big, too bulky, too heavy. Strapped to the pillion seat and you won't be able to get off & on the bike. Use a rack and the bike will be so tail-heavy that the handling will be seriously sh*t. Have a look at the Line 6 Lowdown range. The Studio 110 would probably get pretty close to ticking all your boxes.
Ahh, direct advice would also be good If thats what you'd recommend, then I'll look at that end of the options too!

I've got the whole DI box side of things sorted, but I:
need a little practice amp for rehearsals/small gigs that don't have their own amps provided.
so something that I can carry around to make my own noise, but is small enough to bungee down on a motorbike

So, motorbike test is loooooooming (woohoo!), and I've got my Steinberger synapse, leads+tuner in neat little softcase that'll go on my back for travelling to gigs/lessons, but I'm going to need a little practice amp for rehearsals/small gigs that don't have their own amps provided. Any recommendations? I'm not too sure of how small I'll need...but the best proportion of smallness and loudness is goood *edit* including options like a little 2x10 or a 1x12 cab with a small-but-mighty amp perhaps?*/edit*
Don't lend anyone your gear. They don't care about damaging it and they won't pay up if they do!
BIG plus 1! It got to a stage where I was taking a £100 returnable cash deposit before the gig, and once I'd fully made sure the head was still working they'd get the money back. ANY repairs more than £100 would be paid for in a ratio of 1 finger per £10 costs, starting with the left hand. No feckin' prisoners, no feckin problems.

a little more help needed, if i may
phil_the_bassist replied to phil_the_bassist's topic in General Discussion
Seems like you can play all you need to on bass and what you want is a musical diversion. How about learning piano?
cos I've not got a piano, or room for one I've thought that, but I've put so much goddamn effort, time, blood, sweat and tears into bass I just wanna keep going till I can make some money out of it possibly.
