1. I've got EB slinkys on one bass, and Superslinkys on t'other and I'm dead chuffed with 'em! The Slinkys are only now starting to die after 6months of weekly/twice a week gigging plus practices, and the superslinkys are still going strong (admittedly that bass doesn't get gigged, and thus sweated on, as much as the other, but still not bad!)...I've never got on with Roto's, but horses for courses innit!
 2.
See, that's where John went wrong going to Yamaha.. Had he have gone to Jon Shuker, he'd have gotten it right first time.. Second time too Then just to rub it in, make sure everyone can see it from the back of the crowd!! http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=attach...st&id=23057 lol..... Anyway, The JM bases are lovely. The spacing is a bit wider than I would like, but they have a nice amount of grunt to their sound!
You do realize that taunting us with those will only make us all hate you lucky bastard.
 3. practically every bassist on the planet...but the big question is 'who's got an appropriate pile of cash for such a stunning bass?' Good luck with the sale
 4.
If that plays as good as it looks, then sexual intercourse may have had its day.
Plus One! That's Bloody Gorgeous!!! .....Would you trade for a pair of Musicman Stingray 5's?
 5. definitely excessive, i'm in a 5piece with a d&*khead guitard who owns the PA and doesn't know how to set it up or use it, and i think the hour we take is waaaay too long. Life's too short, theres more important things (like Beer) to be doing (aka Drinking)
 6.
I've done something similar in the past when trying to get out of a pretty boring band to form a soul / funk outfit. All I did was to let a couple of the band know that I fancied putting a 2nd band together to play different material with a view to the odd gig outside of the main band. The singer & drummer were both really up for it & suggested we go for a beer to discuss. We agreed what we fancied doing, recruited a guitarist, had a single rehearsal & the three of us resigned from the other band leaving the irritating guitarist & his crap friend keyboard player to stew in the own 'middle of the road' juices
Sounds about right! There's definately no contracts, nothing that says we can't have a second band...sounds like a few lads with be gettin a word in their shell-like tonight apres gig
 7. Ok, slight dilemma: I'm in a fairly competent rock covers outfit, with 4 gents who're highly successful in their jobs, and only have the band as a hobby and nothing more. They don't mind playing the same spit&sawdust venues for a pittance week in&week out, will not entertain the idea of upping our game and trying to get even a few (3-4 per annum) decent wedding/bday/bah mitzvahs/etc and only like to play guitar-w4nk1n rock...and frankly I'm getting kinda bored. Therefore I wanna start my own band, doing more Stevie W, Motown, Stax, Funk, a higher class of rock, and a higher grade of venue. I've got a few guys in mind to fill the vacancies, but I would like to steal two of the guys from the band. Has anyone else had this sorta mutiny in mind before? whats the best way to go about it, or should I just find some other guys?
 8.
This might sound obvious, but if they're vague about the keys try and learn the songs without any open strings if possible...it'll make changing keys easier.
+1, it's saved my arse many a time!
 9.
I played this live with a uni band. Such a great tune. 13.
he just cares whether they have commercial songs and the right haircut!
so the segment of the industry that he's involved in has shown a (perceived) drop in talent, when what he's lookin for is the right haircut, clothing labels, and a sound cloned from the the MOTR bland, soulless, flat-packed indie-pop bile that clogs the airwaves...and NOT the musicians who try and master their instrument and produce different, new, interesting music. ...and he's suprised? It's Darwin on a shorter timescale...reward the safe bets, and the extremes will fall to the wayside.
 14. how do we know they're BCers?
 15. So, say I was gonna mod a bass to have a pickup that was under a veneer... I will be having the pup magnets the same distance from the strings as they are now, is there a maximum thickness before i start loosing tone/freqs/resonance?
 16.
Of course the fact that someone has placed a bid means that the BIN of £750/£900 is gone and immaterial... Increase in BIN or not, someone could now potentially scoop this for less than the £750 any way!
Not now they won't!
 17. epic, truly epic! It's got my juices goin, I NEED a low F#!!!
 18. all done, thanks!
 19. 22.
You're quite right but that bit there's the point - that's what's applicable under US law, not UK. Ebay will do what RIC request, irrespective of territory because they're a US company, if they didn't then RIC would likely be threatening them with legal action. However RIC is quite tardy about taking legal action against certain non-US infringers - John Birch is a case in point. Birch have had a Rick copy (it's even called a 4001) in their range since the early 70s, and still do now, and RIC haven't batted an eyelid, despite being well aware of its existence. This could be because Birch is a high-end, low-volume custom builder & as such is too insignificant to be worth bothering with, or it could be because if challenged, Birch could demonstrate a continuity of manufacture which pre-dates by decades RIC's registration of the specific design elements they would claim as infringements. Either way, Mr Hall chooses to turn a blind eye. I've said before, I grudgingly support RIC's necessary actions in sweeping the evidence of copies under the carpet - such a small business needs to protect its IP, and I think in their case its loss would be a major threat to their future. I love Ricks, always have, and I think a bit of hassle selling vintage copies is a small price to pay. J.
personally I think it kinda adds to the excitement of buying/finding/selling 'em on ebay BECAUSE they're of dubious legality...a bit like pushin the speedlimit, or being a drug mule for a Bolivian Coke Lord and gettin caught by customs with 2.8kg of the finest Marchin' Powder secreted up your rear entrance  it merely adds to the fun of a normally banal experience!
 23.
Very, very nice! I recognise that door - wasn't there a picture going around with a G&L in front of it?
thankyou -_- i wish it also had this G&L, but alas only my Rays have been seen before this door
 24.
in shining doo dah......
I was always told you couldn't polish DooDah, it's almost like making a leather purse from a pigs ear isn't it? I've forwarded the above email to the Wunch of Bankers that currently control my financial situation, and I can hear them laughing at me already...but I await news nonetheless!
