3. sounds like I'll give it a bang next season then! It seems like one helluv an idea, but of course I'll leave the groupies well alone as I am completely and utterly happy with my current relationship and would never look at another woman Good luck to anyone who gets this summer cruisin'!
 4.
Bollocks! My mate is insisting on buying my SR5, I was going to sell it & then try & buy yours!
Sorry Joe, I'll give you a shout if I reconsider my reconsideration
 5. So how does this work? I can read charts (show tunes, L.I.T.S.O.Mowtown, the standard Jaco charts), but I'm not too hot on my cold reading (if you know what I mean )...is there anywhere that would give an example of the sort of charts you'd be expected to read? Would you be given some charts to read cold in the audition? Do you get any time to look at the charts beforehand? Mucho Grassyarse!

 9. That's REAL purdy...A purely academic question, with no intention to consider sending you some money (in case Mrs PTB reads this!) how much to post it, or would you meet me halfway (I'm in Newbury, Berkshire... ) 'ave a bumperoonie!
 10. [s]It's a bitch, but I've gotta sell my SR5 :-( It's black w/black plate, beautiful birdseye maple neck and loads of SR tone! I love it, and it's painful to see it go, but needs must etc etc! There's a bit of buckle rash, and a bit of damage to the nut (solid repair, and all done before I owned it!!) that doesn't affect the playability or the sound at all. It comes in an original HSC (it's smaller, cooler and more retro lookin' tha the mordern HSC...photo's will come soon!) JimDunlop straplocks and has been babied since I bought it. I'm looking for £980 collected, no swaps [/s] nope, i'm gonna get outta the financial dire straits some other way! I can't do it! she's mine and you can't have her! I'm leavin the thread up so i can link it to the MM Porn, but you're gonna have to throw a LOT of pennies my way to get it outta my hands!
 11.
My 2c worth Be very annoyed if an IT tech tells you its a PEBKAC issue ! 12.
You'll ideally want screened cable. The sort of levels going into headphones is about the same as line level, so it makes sense you'd want similar cable. A
cheers Alien! Anyone know about replacement cones etc?
 13.
speaker wire + headphones = a very stupid idea! D.
oooooooooookay, thankyou....any more info to clarify why you think it's a very stupid idea? Do I need wire of a: higher impedance, lower impedance, different gauge, different material, different colour etc etc etc?
 14. OK, two dilemmas, but both leading to the same topic: I've got a pair of really spangly headphones from Ifrogz that look the Mutts, but the lead's a bit short (I'm used to 10ft lead, these are 3ft) and the jack's a bit naff...apart from that they're not too shabby (esp for the price! ) and would like to know if anyone's got any tips/tricks/hints as to how to go about replacing the lead/ends? I've got plenty of decent stereo speaker wire left over from rigging my hifi/tv/dvd/laptop to my kitchen/livingroom/bedroom, so would that work? can anyone recommend somewhere for stereo headphone jacks? Also, I've got a STUPIDLY comfy set of headphones that sounds like I've got a tear in the right cone...anyone know where I can get replacement headphone cones to go into an existing casing? ....and before you ask, I don't wanna hybrid the two sets
 15.
Looks pretty ok. I know the guy who played on the record (Alan Jones) - he's in Germany this week - pm me your phone number and I will pass it on to him - I'm sure he'd be able to help.
Y'know, there's not many places where you can get direct contact with the original artist to sort out a transcription issue! f***ing RESULT!, Dr OTB, you've got a drink on me, if you ever come by Newbury!
 16.
You could always use the cunning trick that's on an NS Bolin bass, where they have an arm which swivels out from the top horn. I 'googled' Bolin bass to try to get a pic of what I'm going on about and it pinged be back to Basschat!! Anyway, you can see how the strap is attached the arm instead of to behind the top horn.
Thats like on my Steiny Synapse...personally, it;s takin a bit of gettin used to, but it's an ingenious way to hold the strap!
 17. Thanks Phil, for your kind comments and for playing Music Man! Your bass was built on 06/25/98. As far as cleaning, at the factory we have switched to using our new Wonder Wipes Fretboard Conditioner. It cleans your neck without mucking up the strings, in fact it cleans them also! Also for routine maintenance, 100% pure lemon oil is fine (despite what the bottle may say in this case) to help clean and well preserved. If the dirt is really deep, you may want to try using Murphy's Oil Soap, diluted 3:1. After you are finished, you may want to apply Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil (Make sure to remove the oil 5-7 minutes after applying) and a light coat of Birchwood-Casey Gunstock Wax or a high-grade furniture wax for that factory feel. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's directions! Use paper towels to apply these finishes. If your neck neck is pretty grimy, then I would recommend lightly sanding the neck to take off the grime so that you aren't "sealing the grime in". We would use in most cases 1200 grit paper, but you could use as high as 600 grit. Then we would use paper towels to apply the gunstock oil and wax treatment. Make sure to remove the oil 5-7 minutes after applying. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions! Thanks for playing Music Man. Please let me know if you have any more questions. Best Regards, Dan McPherson /\ || || What MM said to me, when I asked them the same question hope it helps!
 18. lol! Yeah, but (having paid VERY close attn to the bidding towards the end) I think she won it off herself plus, she DID manage to find the Giannini trc, so you've gotta give her SOME credit...not too much tho!
 19.
i don't care how much it helps, i wont be doing that on stage..
plus to the 1!!
 20.
And look - this is familiar, isn't it? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=270345551704 Specifically: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=40419 Glad to see it's got its proper TRC back but still - Jon.
Gah! If anyone fancies it, she's a freakin nightmare to deal with (and also has several different ebay accounts: sonaglii, andrea2005lebron, baduer, all sent me the same question, with the same spelling mistakes and name, and domi1623 had the same question, spelling mistakes, but with a different name, so watch out for shill bidding!) and will be more hassle than it's worth!
 21. Absolute legend to deal with! great comms, friendly, quick payment etc etc etc...everything that you'd expect from a fellow bassist
 22. Sounds like either of the Zoom units would be good! I really just wanna get some live recordings so we can use it as a marketing tool (myspaz, facebuk, website type stuff) and so we can have it at rehearsals to check out what works/doesnt. 'Epic' was maybe a bit strong, but you guys have sorted it out brilliantly as per usual! hats off to you guys, you're all welcome to come over for tea and biccies any time you want!
Although this does fall under Misc. Equipment and Accessories in a way, you'll probably get a better response in Recording. I've left a link in the original forum to the topic anyway Danny
Cheers buddy!
 23.
Yep f**kin amazing album! Looking forward to the new one next month!
new one?! Epic! Yeah, I've been a fan of this album for a few years, One Better and Back Off Turkey bein two tracks that stand out for me.
 24. I saw this advertised on FaceBuk and thought what a chuffing good idea it was...but then I thought that you charmin gents would probably be able to suggest some better/more effective ways to record a live band. I've got about £150 to spend, and we've already got a mixing desk that has the vox, both guitards and the kick drum going thru. Shout out your ideas! Phil
