Thru-necked Rickenfaker <<Gone To Italy!>>
phil_the_bassist replied to phil_the_bassist's topic in Basses For Sale
Considering recent Rick copy prices (£560 for a bolt-neck plywood Korean Hondo!) this is a very, very good price for a high-quality Brazilian-made instrument. I hope people aren't being put off by the fact it isn't JapCrap - Giannini has over a century of guitar-building history & is very well-respected these days for high-end acoustics. I'd have every confidence this bass is easily the match of any of its JapCrap equivalents. Jon.
Thanks for the glowing appraisal! Its a great bass, and I'm gutted that my current finances mean I have to sell it! Guys, grab yourself a rare ric rep, you know you wanna!
if it was lefty etc etc...
lol! if you play it infront of a mirror mebby...? -
oh god I'm in love! Here are/were my three: cue "they're the wrong way round, etc"
Heeeey! Thems thar bassers is the rong ways round, innit?
Aw, you got me! We'd better not meet up, the dual low end frequencies might cause some kind of rift in space and time.
We'd better talk to Alex Claber about the enharmonic cancellations, and how to avoid the destruction of the entire universe at the next bass bash

What was your first bass and why did you start playing?

Squire P-bass Special (p-bass pups, with a Jazz at the bridge) in green, and it was the bassline from Deeper Underground that did it for me! -
I don't know mate, but I've gotta say that it's damn Schmexy! shouldn't have much problem selling it once you've figured out what it is
-
Dude, commiserations! You have to admit tho, you've had one HELL of an experience! How many guys can say that they got that far? It was an epic time, and you never know...Simon might well fancy pushing a Swing band to stardom next year and *YOU* will be his first call! ....plus, you'd loose pretty much all your credibility if you did win
Hey mate, what are the body and neck woods? And do you know what pickups it's routed for? Cheers Si
Hey Si To be honest, I don't know what the woods are, but they're pretty damn solid...possibly just basswood (but perhaps ash/alder?) I'll get some dimension measurements for the routes tonight and put it in the listing, Cheers Phil
I was going to say how much I liked the dangly things below the tuners. Took me ages to realise they were the wardrobe handles. So tell me Phil, what's that on the trussrod cover?
the TRC is a clear perspex sheet, under which you can put any printed logo you see fit....it currently MAY read the logo of a popular bass manufacturer, but I'm not at liberty to disclose which brand that is. this bass was not, and will never have been created in any factury other than the Giannini manufacturing plant and other areas of construction or finishing. Phil holds no liability of the aforementioned bass guitar holding a resemblence implied of otherwise, to any such manufacturer whos products may be of similar build shape.
