these have been popping up as a debated item on almost every section of the forum atm! great advertising for the Ebay wholesaler, and Hartke! also, I've also called Larry Hartke and he's a bit of a legend...very much self promoting legend, but legend nonetheless!

Personally, you can get Hartke strings, 3 x 5string sets for £20 (aka EVEN CHEAPER!! and I've been told that they're as good as EB slinkys ) and they're a more recognised brand. There's a thread I posted in Ebay Links with 'em, if you wanna check 'em out? -
Can anybody tell me anything about my old Tokai bass?
phil_the_bassist replied to ironside1966's topic in Bass Guitars
The 80s original designs from Tokai (apart from the Talbo) have really stayed pretty obscure - all the interest seems to be in the copies, all those Love Rocks & Monkey Punchers or whatever they're called. However, all the real Tokai enthusiasts live here: http://www.tokaiforum.com/ And likely somebody on there will be able to give you a bit more info.
Can anybody tell me anything about my old Tokai bass? I bought this at Music ground in the late 80s second hand It is a lined fretless and I think it came out of the factory that way so not de fretted but not 100% sure. It is a white one pickup LBX or MBX not sure what the differences are.
Ask Bassassin, his knowledge of japanese basses makes wikipedia look as informed as Jade Goody -

Ok, I'm opening this thread in case any of you other mobile bassist would like to help our less motorised brethren attend this event. Even with my full stack (If I take it) I'll have at least 3 spare seats in my car (4, if people don't mind having basses laid on their laps on the back seat!). With this is mind, I'm more than happy to pick up/drop off BCers who are on my route...especially if they want to make a very reasonable contribution to my petrol/entry costs I'm going to be driving from South Newbury, thru to Basingstoke, and near Fleet and Aldershot toget to the Guildford Travelodge. Any Chatters on that route require assistance?

South East Bass Bash, Saturday 27th September: NEW INFO!
phil_the_bassist replied to silverfoxnik's topic in Events
So, is it time to start working out lift-share type deals? Even if popularity dictates that I'm taking my full stack, I'm still going to have 4 empty seats, and in the current socio-plitical climate this seems like a freakin waste! Should I start a new thread for this? -
Quick question covering technique and stamina I guess... I'm trying to learn Knights of Cydonia by Muse. The galloping triplets from around 1m to 3m are killing me. I haven't really had to do this before (apart from an annual blast of 'do they know its christmas?') We're playing it 40bpm faster than the recording. (ps. this is all plectrum related) Now, technique wise, am I supposed to do fast triplets by pivoting my hand on the ball of my wrist; or is it my whole forearm that is supposed to move?? Or neither?? With the former i get friction burns after a minute or so. With the latter it feels harder to control, but less painful. Stamina wise, I get muscle pain halfway up my forearm, which feels liek its from holding the plentrum too tightly. Any tips for all this peeps?? Cheers
I think I see your problem I personally find that using three fingers is the easiest way to play triplets...but that's because I haven't used a pick in about 5 years! Sorry about the lack of help

When I saw that the first thing I thought was "oooh, 18" cones *homer-esque gargle*" but I'm guessing I might need some smaller cones for the mids and tops to round out the sound...mebby my 2x15 would suffice as a tweeter!
