2.
Can the moderators exclude this guy...?
huh? Bilbo, I have one thing to say to you and your carrots! *ahem*
AAAAGA Do Do DO......!!
So don't you go gettin me all moderated! :-P I thoroughly enjoy the song, but it's a beautifully cheesy classic, and I stand by this! so there! *harrumph*
 3.
I might have managed to land a job and should find out if I've got it later today with any luck The shifts are 6-2 one week and 2-10 the next. In theory my band could just play gigs the weeks when im doing mornings which would suit me fine but I dont know if its unreasonable to ask them to do that. Also weekends are free aslong as I dont do overtime. My band had their first gig last night and it went great. I really dont want to stop playing with them just as things are kicking off. So your thoughts on the subject? Also I suppose once i know people their I might be able to shift swap?
Congrats on the gig mate! nicely done! On the work note tho, have a good chat with 'em about it. We had a drummer who got a shift job and said me can only book gigs around him, which we grudgingly agreed to, but it was always a sore point...esp when he would have his shift pattern changed at short notice, leading to cancelling gigs, and turning down gigs that we could've done in the end etc etc Don't presume that it'll be all cool with your band, but talk it out with 'em and I'm sure (if they're sound) you'll be able to work something out!
 4.
So much potential for innuendo. Must resist.
innuendo...hurhurhur! in-YOUR-end-o more like :-D
 5.
...did I mention that I f*cking hate the song with unbridled passion and that my teeth itch whenever we play it?
It's the same every time I have to play Hotel Cali-fnckin-fornia I CAN'T STAND IT!!!! I used to love it, but, quoting another cheese classic, it's #lost that, looooovin feeeeelin!, woah woah, that lovin feelin...# I've recently persuaded my covers band to play MustSal, purely for the aformentioned cheesiness:D
 6.
Ooooh, we seem to have tapped a deep, bitter vein of prejudice there.
Kinda did come across that way... it's not a deep vein of prejudice, merely a difference of opinions re. dress sense! I'm sure any offended parties would be reluctant to recreate my wardrobe choices merely to get a gig!
Good grief man, that's Emo not industrial
Lol! I'm guessin the band in question was breakin down boundaries with their music in contrast to their attire! Go them!
 7.
apparently my small girls hands will mean its too hard to teach me
WTF?! Why are there people with this opinion! When I was speaking to a bassist at a gig, and mentions I was teaching my g/f to play bass, he laughed and said "Good luck! Girls can't handle a 5er cos their too weak!" Admittedly my 'Ray is a bit of a handful, but she can shred on my washburn now worries! Funking prinks! Anyhow, ditch the tutor, you WILL be able to get a better deal elsewhere! Have you tried getting resources from books/the web? might be good untill you find someone who'll take you seriously!
 8.
What if you had stuck some masking tape over the head stock and written BC Rich on it?
lol! It was a thought, but i think I'd then have to've grown my hair (check my profile pic as to the main reason why this'd be an issue) and made it do that flicky kinda-across-the-face thing...ooh, and dyed it black, and worn my jeans round the middle of my thighs, and started wearing black checkerboard belts/ties/scarfs etc etc etc...it looked to be one of those bands, if you know what I mean!
 9. I had quite a frustrating audition the other day...it was for an "industrial rock" band, the songs were nicely riffy, but quite formulaeic (sp?) so I was able to work out&learn about half their album ready for the audition. I turned up, nailed their stuff but was told my bass didn't "fit in with, y'know, what we're lookin for"..not my sound, not my playing, but because I had a natural ash Ray, and not some Mondo-Death-Crazy-Killer-Black-Metal bass, they didn't want me. Cliquey pieces o' sh!t...
 10.
how much has the bidding ended at before? maybe he won't sell for less than £700 (the asking price on Gumtree) so he's coming up with excuses not to sell?
I can't remember TBH, but it's always caught my eye but without the funds to think about GASsing properly for it, I've not worried about looking at the auction end. It's defo the same bass as on Gumtree, and if he wanted £700 for it, why not just set that as the reserve? It's all a bit dodgy, esp with that feedback!
 11. ok, I actually kinda fancy your bass

I've questioned him before and each time he says that the winning bidder didn't pay up for whatever reason. It's starting to sound like "the dog ate my homework" so I was wondering if any of you gents have dealt with this guy before/know the bass/shead light on this issue. I struggle to believe that he's had as much bad bidders as he says he has! *title edited for spelling*
 13. Do they have a socket for headphones? you may well have to have it surgically removed from a delicate orifice courtesy of your fellow passengers if you're sat working out Sir Duke on a stylophone on the rushour commute w/out headphones! Good plan tho, if it works I can see it being an invaluable tool!
 14.
Ahhh, that's pretty bad. Almost as bad as your singer forgetting his songs and turning round to grab your drum sticks to stop the song because HE's so important! I had some strong words to our singer after that, just to say that while he may have pulled it off on that night, stopping songs mid way through takes the momentum out of a set, re-starting them is boring for the audience, and having the arrogance to stop your band will just rile them! Maybe you could convey a similar "just keep playing and make it sound right" message?
I've not found a force on earth that can dissuade an arrogant singer/guitard from their course of action! Cattle prods go some way, but they play havoc with the mics!
 15.
Did you love the customer service in The Bass Celler ? did they spit at you when you didn't buy a bass?
+1
 16.
you would probably need a new nut, as the strings would be too thick for the notches, or you could just carfully file them to make the notches larger. other than that it would work fine.
+1, the strings didn't fit when i tried the same thing...i filed the nut, as a temp fix, and it works as well as i hoped. Would prolly sound better with a new nut but i'm not fussed at the mo!
 17. That's a stunning bass...if only I had the money! have a bump instead
 18.
If that came out of John's workshop then i'm Charlie Mingus !!! May be he had a young brummie school boy on work experience !
Mr Mingus, it's an honor to meet you!
 19.
officially the cheapest price iv ever seen for a stingray 5. mate unless you REALLY need the money, dont sell for this price
*a very quite +1 as he scrabbles around trying to find £550 in his already-motheaten bank accounts!*
 20.
summer madness price drop again 550.
Hey Trev, has it got any damage to the finish? have a bump while we're at it!
 21.
If the thought of a fanned fret bass makes your head spin, how about this?
...woah ok, so, which one are you donating to Phils Fan-Fretted Five-string Rehoming Project?
 22.
Unless they're active i find they don't tend to even come close to sounding as good as a musicman
fair enough...I've got little experience with MM reps, so I'm trustin you on this'un!
 23. ooooh! Pretty! You'd better get some snaps of it up on GearPorn!!
 24.
Just a quick plug for a couple of basses I am selling just now. First is my Carlo Robelli 12 string which can be found here
Woah...that's just freakin BEAUTIFUL! Soo, I'm guessin the 8ve strings can be tuned to some basic chord etc...? If ONLY I had the money, I'd have that off you quicker than you can say superpseudoantidisestablishmentarianismistic (or that welsh train station...)!
 25.
Ha ha yeah I think he means the drummer mouthing the count ....
Does The Count mind..? Bwahahah! I'll get me coat
