1. Take the passenger seat out. Used to do that with my old Saab Turbo.
2. I see the SGs advertise themselves as "Rock Punk post Grunge with pop sensibilities". Something for everyone, then, in the modern little-bit-of-everything-but-not-too much-of-anything world (let's keep it fun for all the family, boyz n' girlz)... They can hardly complain if things get a bit too, er, punk, can they? BTW, what's this doing on a bass players' site? As far as I can see, neither of the SGs plays bass.
3. AER Amp 2. Add slave power amp an cabs for extra volume if needed.
4. Two holes that size won't act as ports. They'll just help to cancel the low frequencies.
5. Classy stuff. Good taste in drums too. Always wondered why more people don't play Sonor. Lovely crisp sounding drums.
6. I know this is an old story, but I like the one about Bonio preaching to an audience, "Every time I clap my hands, a child dies in Africa". To which some wag shouted out, "Well stop clapping yer hands, then".
7. 2 Pitchblacks - rack and pedal, a clip on and several plug ins. Too many...
8. So far so good. We also don't have a permanent drummer. The chap who turns out for us says we're the politest band he's ever worked with. Probably because we're all 50+ and were brought up proper, like...
9. Cosmo. Read what I wrote - "Reputable manufacturers don't put rubbish p/us in their instruments". The question was about an Ibanez. I'm not stating that all El Cheapo guitars have good p/us...
10. D'addario flats for me. Nice compromise between mellow and crisp.
11. I've heard two people playing J basses through MB kit and making very nice noises. I played my '72 J through one of them and it did sound good. If I didn't have my EBS, I'd be thinking seriously about one.
12. Mr Blue he speak da troof. Reputable manufacturers don't put rubbish p/us in their instruments, despite what after market sellers (who don't have anything to gain from our changing p/us, of course...) try to claim.
13. [sub]EBS? Less eq/tonal controls, but I find mine a good modern equivalent and lighter.[/sub]
14. Agree with 7755's suggestions. Always plenty of used power amps on eBay and similar. Look at QSC, Crest, Yamaha, etc. Avoid the 'disco' amps from, well, perhaps I ought not to name names, but it will be obvious. They tend to have rubbish power supplies and can't deliver the current you need for bass reproduction.
15. I wouldn't worry about all valve. Go for valve pre and transistor power. 99% of the tonal benefits, with cooler running and no expensive power tubes to replace. Lighter/cheaper, too.
16. I second the above post. "Tone wood" is a complete fallacy in solid electric instruments and just another device used to part the unwary from their cash. Yes, I know it makes a difference in the case of my fiddle or my Martin D35, but my basses? Nope.
17. Speakons the only way to go. Can't pull out and handle much higher currents.
18. [sub]Ah, Gladys. Of course. Astonishing. She showed me some slapping once and I couldn't sit down for a week.[/sub]
19. I like the Snake Oil brand of cables. Expensive, but worth it. Come in a hand crafted wooden box, made from endangered rain forest trees and a guarantee that I'll play better and women will hurl themselves at my feet. Is it time for my medication yet, doctor?
20. The one played by the best bass player in the world, of course. Wish I could remember her name...
21. Gotoh bridges the best value, imho. 201 or 203 (the latter is a heavier duty version of the BBOT). Nicely made and no sharp edges and the cheapfulness is gratifying. Of course, the Snake Oil Custom made from unobtainium is better...
