  1. Gotoh the best value imho
  2. K&M. I have a pair that have lasted 15 years and are still good as new. You can get a pair for less than a ton. Buy cheap, buy twice (as you've found with the Studiospares ones).
  3. Steel Panther? Any relation to Geoff Leopard?
  4. I'd get a good pre and a PA power amp. Just bought a Bass Switch and use it that way. Squeaky clean.
  5. Ask Derek at Watford Valves. Knows his stuff.
  6. Oh deal. Hoe sod.
  7. Thanks Raggy Will check them out.
  8. I've been playing 40 years and am still rubbish. You never stop learning. As someone else said, it's the journey. If you enjoy it, why stop? Don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. There's always some monster player who will make you feel inadequate. That ain't the point. Music is not an Olympic sport.
  9. Thanks for that link Hobbayne. I can find an electrical appliance logo I like the look of and get them to make me one. Doctor J - it's precisely because I don't want to be a brand slave that I want something daft.
  10. 1/10. But then I am 90% water.
  11. Finally finished the project bass. Squier P body, Warmoth neck, Bill Lawrence p/u I bought in the 1980s and never got around to using, Gotoh bridge. Looks and sounds good. Was about to order the inevitable Fender decal for the headstock when a little voice told me not to be so sad. So looking for ideas. Hotpoint appeals (you can get their decals). Any other suggestions?
  12. God bless him. Sid Page was some fiddler. RIP Dan.
  13. Dangerous shop, that. Too easy to spend money there.
  14. As you've obviously used (and paid for) pro level kit in the past, you ought to have a look at the AER combos. The 1x10 costs a grand, but is a bit special. Have a look at Ed Friedland's review on YouTube.
  15. A triumph of style over substance. Her intonation is pretty doubtful, too
  16. Aluminium camera case from Argos - takes all my mics, leads, etc. Strong and cheap.
  17. That's helpful of Barnes & Mullins to suggest you buy a complete set of pickups when all you need is a plastic cover. Really good customer service, eh? I'd try filing out the pole piece holes on the generic one you've got. Would be better than nothing. Or perhaps a personal email to the CEO of Aguilar, saying how much you like his products, etc?
  18. I have a HK VX1200 power amp that runs into 2 ohms.
  19. All Dano's are. It's mdf essentially.
  20. Jack's just made me a p/g. Excellent and quick turnaround. Use them with confidence.
  21. These are excellent. I use the 4 string version. Would have this if I had a 5.
  22. Can you give a rough idea of the weight?
  23. Good luck with the recovery. Hope the Harley is fixable. Pushbikes are my thing - someone opened a car door on me a couple of years back and I went over the top of it and smashed up my right hand. Took a while, but its good as new now.
  24. Hi All. Building a P Bass and intend to use an old Bill Lawrence EB60 pickup I bought in the 1980s and never used (quick off the mark, ain't I?). Lost the wiring diagram ages ago. It has 3 wires - red, soldered to the back plates (assume a ground) and black and white - one from each half. Suggestions for wiring? Thanks.
